“She’s just throwing a fit.”

He heard how calm his own voice sounded.

“She overslept and missed her stop. And last night, when she came back, I was tied up helping Grace with

her photos. I couldn’t get away, so I didn’t go pick her up…”

The other end of the phone went silent for two seconds.

“She missed her stop? You were with Grace?”

Ryan’s voice changed completely.

“Adrian, who the hell are you actually on this Destination Wedding trip with?”

“No wonder they already got married!”

Adrian scoffed.

“Come on. That’s obviously fake.”

“You know what Ethan is like. Back when he was chasing Nora, what trick didn’t he try?”

“He probably photoshopped some pictures, uploaded a post, and is just waiting for me to lose my mind.”

“Alright. I’m hanging up.”

After the call ended, he stood in the hallway, staring at his phone screen.

The message asking Nora if she wanted breakfast was still sitting there.

That red exclamation mark stabbed at his eyes.

He tapped on her profile picture.

Then he sent another message.

[Nora, are you done with this already?】

Another red exclamation mark appeared.

He took a breath.

Then he picked up the hotel phone and dialed her number.

It rang twice.

Then the call was rejected.

When he tried again, all he heard was the busy tone.

He leaned against the wall.

For some reason, he suddenly found it almost laughable.

She wanted a Destination Wedding.

So he had canceled the Wedding Ceremony they had spent half a year preparing for and came here with her.

And now…

All of this was because he didn’t pick her up at the station?

Or was it because Grace had posted a Status about visiting Briarwood Old Town?

She was her own person.

Where she wanted to go wasn’t something he could control.

Her little ways of picking fights were getting more and more ridiculous.

She was becoming more and more unreasonable.

Grace poked her head out from the room.

“Adrian? Are you okay?”

He glanced at her.

He didn’t answer.

He simply turned and walked toward the elevator.

“Where are you going?”

“I have something to deal with.”

The elevator doors opened.

Just as he stepped inside, his phone rang again.

It was his mom.

The second he answered, she snapped.

“Adrian! That Carter Family boy got married? How could Nora be the one he married?”

“What the hell are you two doing?”

He paused.

“Mom, it’s fake.”

“Fake?”

“Your aunt already called me about it. One of her friends knows someone from The Carter Family, and Ethan

posted a Status. It spread everywhere in less than half a day!”

“How am I supposed to explain this now?”

“They even took Engagement Photos. Clear as day.”

“Nora was smiling like she’d never been happier!”

“What the hell is going on between you two?”

“You went on a Destination Wedding trip and somehow managed to lose your own wife halfway through?”

He listened to her voice through the phone.

His finger rested on the elevator button.

He didn’t move.

“Hello? Adrian? Say something!”

He still insisted,

“It’s fake. Don’t believe it.”

He hung up.

The elevator doors slowly closed.

He stood inside, watching the numbers descend one floor at a time.

Then a thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.

She looked that happy?

The day she got engaged to him….

She smiled too.

But he had canceled their plan to go to Colorado for Engagement Photos halfway through.

He had said Grace had just gone through a breakup and needed someone with her.

They could take the photos another day.

Another day.

Somehow, another day turned into never.

She never brought it up again.

Back then, he hadn’t thought much of it.

But now…

Looking back, it seemed like he was always saying:

Always another day.

Always “just wait a moment.”

Always “after I get through this busy period.”
