He Faked Cancer While I Lost Thirty Babies For Him Chapter 05

Sebastian’s expression froze. Then panic overtook him completely.

“Doctor! Where’s the doctor? Save Lena! Hurry, save her!”

Suddenly, the private physician rushed out of the electroshock room, his forehead covered in cold sweat.

“This is bad, Mr. Langford. Mrs. Langford’s father has stopped breathing!”

Wind swept in from the far end of the hallway, and Sebastian stood frozen in place.

How was that possible?

How could he have died?

Hadn’t Sebastian given orders to only pretend to adjust the temperature and increase the current?

Hadn’t they been told not to actually do anything to his father-in-law?

His heart sank hard, and a terrifying possibility struck him so violently that his breathing faltered.

He had always felt that Chloe had been different ever since she came back this time.

Five years ago, Chloe had come back from overseas in tears and gone looking for him, asking how he could marry someone else.

Hadn’t he promised when they were children that he would marry her and wait for her?

She said she had only left in a hurry because her family had arranged for her to go overseas, not because she had abandoned him after his family went bankrupt.

By then, Sebastian had already made his comeback. He had money and power, and around that same time, Chloe’s parents had passed away.

Sebastian felt he had wronged her, so he brought her into the Langford home.

But only a few months later, Lena, out of jealousy toward Chloe, supposedly had her kidnapped and sent to Snowridge, Alaska while Sebastian was away, where Chloe suffered endless abuse and humiliation.

But was that really the truth?

Sebastian took a deep breath and closed his eyes. In the next second, he summoned his secretary.

“Lucas Reed, pull every surveillance recording from this hospital. I want to know exactly who tampered with the shock-therapy room.”

By the time dusk settled over the city, Sebastian was clutching a plain ring in his palm as he walked into the ICU.

Lena lay there quietly, her body hooked up to countless tubes and monitors.

He slowly crouched beside her, held her cold hand, and spoke in a choked voice.

“Lena, back then, you wanted this ring so badly. But I was broke and ruined. I couldn’t even afford a plain band like this.”

“You never blamed me. Later, you endured every hardship with me. You suffered for ten long years, and I finally had money and power.”

“But because of work, because time wore down what I felt for you, and finally because of Chloe, I never even bought this ring for you.”

As he spoke, he gently, carefully slid the ring onto Lena’s pale finger.

Countless days and nights of Lena standing beside him through every storm surfaced before his eyes.

He broke down sobbing.

“Lena, wake up, okay? As long as you wake up, I’ll do anything you want.”

He gripped Lena’s hand tightly.

In the next second, Lena’s heart monitor blipped.

Sebastian was instantly overcome with joy. “Doctor, come here! Lena’s awake!”

But suddenly, after only two short seconds, a piercing flatline sounded.

Lena’s heart rate stopped.

Lena was dead.

Half an hour later, Lucas presented two surveillance videos.

One was from the electroshock room.

The other was from the confinement room.

“Lena, enjoy the surprise I prepared for you.”

“No, Sebastian, please let me go!”

“Sebastian!”

The man snorted. “Be a good girl and enjoy being beneath us, Mrs. Langford.”

“No!”

With a ripping sound, Lena’s clothes were torn apart, and she was violated for three full hours.

After Sebastian finished watching, Lucas silently handed over the rest of the evidence: files and recordings.

Sebastian read through them page by page. Every single one showed how Chloe had framed and tormented Lena behind his back.

He kept reading until he finally reached the truth of why Lena had sent Chloe to Snowridge, Alaska.

Standing at the nurses’ station, Sebastian crushed the water glass on the counter with a sharp crack.

The first time Chloe left the country, it was because she despised Sebastian’s poverty and chased wealth.

She had run off overseas with another man.
