He Canceled The Wedding So I Went Home To Marry My Arranged Husband Chapter 07

The businessmen stared at Grant like he was so dumb it was almost cute.

In an era driven by profit, all he talked about was love.

After everything he’d been through, Grant had become sensitive and fragile. He could read them like a book.

Meanwhile, half the elite in the city were walking into my ballroom.

His wedding with Quinn? Barely anyone showed up. A few token socialites. The rest were wannabes trying to claw their way up.

Grant felt a bitter, hollow ache he couldn’t put into words. He couldn’t hide his frustration.

Quinn noticed he was starting to regret things. She played the victim perfectly, tilting her voice into something small and wounded.

“I’m sorry, Grant. This is all my fault. If I weren’t so low-class, those businessmen wouldn’t have said those things.”

Tears spilled down her cheeks.

“I know I act cheerful and confident, but deep down I know I’m nothing. I’ve always felt insecure around you.”

If this had been any other time, Grant would’ve sworn up and down to protect her. But right now, he could only force a tight, bitter smile.

“Don’t talk about yourself like that.”

Then he couldn’t help it. He looked the other way.

He kept guessing. Maybe the businessmen were lying. Maybe they had it all wrong.

And then Julian Hale walked in. White suit. Covered in diamonds. Long, confident strides.

Grant finally cracked.

His hands balled into fists. He pulled out his phone and texted me.

[I know it was wrong to call off the wedding and humiliate you. But don’t marry someone you don’t love just to prove a point.]

[Quinn and I are just going through a ceremony. Settling old scores. You know how our world works—it’s just for show. After it’s over, I can sign the papers with you. This wedding won’t mean anything. I promise.]

He pictured my face lighting up when he read his messages.

Then he saw it—blocked. Message failed.

His face dropped.

I’d deleted him. Blocked him. Clean and cold.

Grant didn’t care about Quinn standing right next to him. He didn’t care who was watching.

He grabbed Julian by the arm.

“This is what you want? To force a woman who doesn’t love you into marriage?”

Grant was six feet tall.

But standing next to Julian, who was pushing six-four, he still paled in comparison.

Julian’s gaze turned frosty. The corner of his mouth curled into a mocking smirk.

“If she’s willing, then yes. That’s exactly what I want. And you—what exactly are you right now?”

“Sloane’s ex-fiancé?”

“The coward who ran?”

“Or the cheater who threw her away?”

Each question hit Grant like a needle straight to the heart.

His face twisted with rage and shame.

“What do you have to be so proud of, Julian?” he spat. “You’re getting my leftovers. The second I snap my fingers, Sloane will come crawling back.”

Quinn’s face crumbled when she saw Grant losing it over me.

She ran to him and grabbed his arm, in that bratty, entitled voice of hers.

“Grant! What the hell are you saying? This is our wedding day! Say one more thing like that and I swear I won’t marry you!”

She thought that would scare him.

Instead, Grant yanked his arm away, exhausted.

“Then don’t.”
