He Asked Me to Divorce Her 19 Times, I Asked Him to Wait Till I Die Chapter 06

Gideon’s face froze.

Lesly snapped and screamed, “Do you have any idea who my husband is? How dare you cause

trouble here!”

She pointed at the manager and shrieked, “You think my husband can’t afford to pay? My husband

is the CEO of the Carman Group!”

Lesly grabbed the microphone and threw it at the screen.

“Turn it off! Who gave you permission to show this? Who said you could play this?”

Lesly was about to keep spiraling when Gideon finally snapped to his senses and spotted me in the

crowd.

I was not the plain woman I used to be. I wore makeup, a tailored suit, and high heels, my hair

styled up, looking like a true professional.

I met his gaze, smiled, and said, “Honey. Enjoying yourself?”

Gideon finally understood why I’d refused to sign the divorce papers.

“Aubrielle!” His eyes were full of disappointment. “How long are you going to keep this up?”

“Today is not the day for your tantrums,” his voice dripping with condemnation. “Can you please just stop?”

Gideon, who never bowed his head for anyone, lowered it once again for Lesly.

“Just for today. Stop this, okay? Please, Aubrielle!”

He stared at me, expecting me to give in like I always had.

In the past, if Gideon told me not to show up, I stayed away.

When Gideon said I wasn’t high-class enough for certain events, I obediently stayed away.

When Gideon said my status was too low, that I wasn’t suitable for certain occasions, I obediently

stayed away.

Even when it hurt, even when I felt like I was about to burst with all the grievance I had bottled up-

I swallowed it all down, because Gideon loved me. And that was enough.

I always told myself Gideon was the bright moon in the sky. I was the one who had reached up and

plucked that moon for myself.

So of course I had to endure this. Of course I had to bear these grievances. I had no right to be

dramatic and add to Gideon’s worries.

So I just nodded and said, “Okay. Whatever you want.”

Now, I looked at Gideon, his eyes begging. I’d lost count of how many times he’d bowed and pleaded for Lesly.

But I no longer cared.

“No.”

My voice was soft, but Gideon understood. He stared at me in shock, reevaluating me.

I took the microphone and spoke, “Today’s wedding for Mr. Carman is quite a show. I’ve heard so many people envy their love.”

“Unfortunately,” I pointed to the screen that Lesly had smashed, “the ‘Mrs. Carmen’ standing up there on stage is nothing but a mistress with no legal standing. A woman who climbed her way into his bed and tore apart someone else’s family.”

“If every mistress gets a happy ending, and everyone who betrays a faithful heart gets to ride off into the sunset-then don’t you think this world is being a little too unfair to the real wife?”

My voice was still soft, but it carried through the speakers. The girls who’d chanted for candy just moments earlier threw them aside and jeered.

“I thought this was a reallife romance. Turns out it’s just a cheating jerk and a gold digger. Disgusting!”
