From Mafia Wife to Empire Queen Chapter 07

From Mafia Wife to Empire Queen Chapter 07

Autumn arrived in New York, bringing sharp, bitter cold winds sweeping through the city streets.

I sat by the floor-to-ceiling windows in the Ferraro Group skyscraper, sipping warm milk Salvatore had personally prepared for me.

My phone played a short viral video clip.

The footage showed Luca trapped in the middle of a city street, surrounded and physically assaulted by three angry women.

Emma stood towering over him, heavily pregnant, yanking hard on his hair while screaming insults at the top of her lungs.

“You useless, worthless good-for-nothing! You lied about being the Moretti Family Don and ruined my life!”

“Hand over whatever hidden money you have right now, or I’ll abort this baby and dump the remains right on your doorstep!”

Luca lay helpless on the cold pavement, unable to fight back, as passersby stopped to film and stare in amusement.

The pride and dignity he’d once held so highly were shattered into irreparable dust.

I closed the video, feeling absolutely no remorse or pity.

He deserved every ounce of this cruel karma.

“Feeling sorry for him?”

Salvatore wrapped his arms around me from behind, resting his chin lightly on my shoulder, his tone laced with quiet jealousy.

I let out a soft laugh, leaning back comfortably against his chest.

“Sorry? I only feel disgusted.”

“If it weren’t for him, Biscuit would still be alive with me today.”

My tone dropped slightly at the mention of my beloved cat.

Salvatore pressed a gentle kiss to my cheek, his voice soft and soothing.

“I never let anyone who hurts you get away unscathed.”

“Emma’s animal cruelty and property damage case has been ruled final. She’s been ordered to pay massive compensation and will serve three years in prison.”

“As for her unborn twins, Thomas’s wife has already confronted her publicly. The pregnancy won’t survive the backlash.”

I nodded quietly. It was the only just ending they deserved.

Just then, the front desk called my office line.

“Ms. Draven, a man named Luca is downstairs in the lobby. He’s demanding to see you and refuses to leave.”

“Security is trying to remove him, but he’s causing a huge scene.”

I frowned slightly at the news.

Salvatore let out a cold scoff.

“I’ll have my men throw him out onto the street.”

“No need.” I placed a hand on his arm to stop him.

“I’ll go see him myself. I need to end this once and for all.”

I took the private elevator down to the main lobby.

Luca was pinned roughly to the marble floor by four security guards.

His clothes were filthy and unrecognizable, and he reeked of body odor after days without washing or proper shelter.

The second he caught sight of me walking forward, he struggled wildly against the guards’ grip, his eyes blazing with desperate fervor.

“Vera! Vera, you finally agreed to see me!”

“I know I was wrong! I truly regret everything!”

He broke free from the guards’ hold long enough to drop heavily to his knees before me, his knees cracking loudly against the hard marble floor.

“Vera, please forgive me.”

“Those women only ever lied to me for my money. You’re the only one who ever truly cared for me.”

“I’ve sent them all away. I only want you now, forever.”

“Let’s remarry. I swear I’ll never look at another woman again for the rest of my life.”

He wept bitterly, reaching out a trembling hand to grab the hem of my dress.

I stepped back sharply, avoiding his touch with clear revulsion.

“Luca, have you completely lost your mind?”

“You’re penniless, broke, and unable to even support yourself. What could you possibly offer me in a remarriage?”

Luca froze for a moment before speaking in a rushed, desperate tone.

“Vera, you’re incredibly talented as a lawyer. You’re Salvatore’s fiancée now.”

“Just ask Salvatore to give me a small business contract, and I can rebuild my fortune from scratch.”

“I’ll give you back your place as the most respected Donna in New York once I’m successful again.”

I stared at his shameless, greedy expression, finding the entire situation utterly absurd.

He actually expected me to beg my fiancé for favors on his behalf, after all the pain and humiliation he’d put me through?

“Luca, you’re nothing but a shameless scoundrel.”

“What makes you think I’d lift a finger to help you after everything you’ve done to hurt me?”

Luca’s face twisted with anger and desperation, still refusing to give up.

“We shared three years of marriage, Vera.”

“You loved me once more than anything. You can’t possibly erase those feelings so quickly.”

I cut him off coldly without hesitation.

“The Vera who loved you is gone forever.”

“Luca, don’t ever come near me again to disgust me.”

“The state you’re in now is pathetic beyond words.”

I turned to leave.

Luca suddenly scrambled to his feet, charging straight toward me in a blind rage.

“Vera! You heartless woman!”

“Did you plan this all along with Salvatore? You ruined my life, and I’ll kill you for it!”

Before he could lay a single finger on me, Salvatore appeared out of nowhere behind me.

He delivered a brutal kick straight to Luca’s chest.
