Five Years As An Amnesiac Bride Chapter 05

Five Years As An Amnesiac Bride Chapter 05

Perhaps out of guilt, Ethan sent me a lot of texts the next day.

Some tried to comfort me, while others asked what I wanted.

One message said, Ethan: [The bride and groom aren’t supposed to see each other the day

before the wedding. After the ceremony, I’ll spend proper time with you.]

I did not reply. I simply packed my suitcase.

Maybe it was because I was finally going home, but that night, I could not sleep at all.

I stared out the window. When the sky was just beginning to brighten, I heard the doorbell

ring.

I opened the door and saw Lila, just as I had expected.

I had gone to see her before and told her outright that I would give her my place as the bride.

She did not believe me, but she was still willing to take the chance.

After she came in, she glanced at me, then at the bedroom.

A lot of my things were indeed gone.

Once Lila realized I had not lied to her, her expression softened. A closer look showed the

excitement she could barely hide at the thought of marrying Ethan.

“At least you know your place. Even if it isn’t me today, the woman by Ethan’s side will only

ever be me.”

I said nothing.

When the makeup artist arrived, I told her to do Lila’s makeup.

She looked stunned, but we were short on time, so she did as she was told.

As for me, I carried my suitcase downstairs.

I had no friends, so even the bridesmaids were hired.

They did not know I was the real bride, so of course they did not stop me.

I got into the car smoothly and headed for the airport.

Ethan got into his own car surrounded by his friends and groomsmen.

Along the way, people kept teasing him.

“Ethan, are you really marrying her just like this? You won’t regret it?”

Everyone knew about my memory loss.

They had also tried to persuade Ethan to choose another woman.

But in that moment, Ethan’s answer was as firm as it had been every other time. “She’s the

only woman I’ll ever marry.”

The group burst into cheers and teasing. Ethan did not say anything else.

It was supposed to be a joyful day, yet a bad feeling suddenly hit him.

As if thinking of something, Ethan took out his phone, only to find that he still had not

received a single reply from me.

The drive was not far, but because of the unease gnawing at him, it felt unbearably long.

When they finally arrived at the house, Ethan quickly got out of the car.

He breezed through the silly wedding-party challenges the bridesmaids had set up.

When he pushed open the door and saw the person sitting there, the anxiety that had been

twisting inside him finally eased.

His lips curved as he said to “Sylvia Hayes,” “Sylvia, I’m here to marry you.”

When Lila heard that name, panic stirred in her for no reason.

As Ethan walked closer step by step, her hands slowly curled into fists.

She still did not want to be discovered, at least not before the ceremony was over.

But things did not go her way.

When Ethan was only one step away, he stopped. Something felt wrong.

The figure was wrong. The scent was wrong. Even the way she sat was wrong.

Ignoring the people trying to stop him, Ethan yanked off the veil.

The moment he saw her face, his expression tightened, and his eyes turned as cold as ice.

“Lila, why is it you?”
