Five Years As An Amnesiac Bride Chapter 04

Five Years As An Amnesiac Bride Chapter 04

For the next several days, Ethan did not show up.

Two days before the wedding, Ethan finally had his assistant take me to the bridal salon.

I put on the wedding dress I had designed a year ago based on my own ideas.

I did not know when Ethan arrived, but he suddenly wrapped his arms around me from

behind.

He let out a soft sigh. “I knew you’d look beautiful in a wedding dress. I was right.”

For a moment, I felt dazed, as if I had gone back to two years ago.

Back then, after losing my memory, I had fallen in love with Ethan all over again.

I did not want him to suffer like that every year, so I brought up breaking up.

Ethan cried as he begged me to stay. “Sylvia, you can’t do this. This isn’t fair to me.”

I held back my tears. “But I don’t know what else to do, Ethan. I forget every year. I don’t want

to keep hurting you over and over again.”

Ethan raised his hand and wiped away my tears. Then he said, word by word, with solemn

sincerity, “Then will you marry me?”

“I can swear that I’ll never do anything to betray you for the rest of my life. That way, every

time you lose your memory and see our marriage certificate, it’ll be easier for you to fall in

love with me again.”

Ethan’s words had been so sincere that the night I wrote them in my journal, I did not leave

out a single one.

But reality slapped me across the face.

Ethan had cheated on me, and he had gotten another woman pregnant.

My heart felt as if it had been pricked by a needle, and a sharp, prickling ache spread through

“Sylvia, you’ve lost weight.”

Ethan’s voice pulled me back from my thoughts.

I did not argue, because I could feel it myself.

When people endure enough pain, they lose weight.

Even I, without all my memories, was no exception.

When I did not respond, a trace of loneliness flashed in Ethan’s

eyes.

Just as Ethan was about to go change into his suit, his phone rang.

He had not hidden Lila’s pregnancy from me, so he answered the call without any hesitation.

I was just close enough to hear the tears in Lila’s voice. “Ethan, I’m bleeding. I’m so scared.”

Ethan’s expression tightened. “Don’t be scared. I’ll be right there.”

After hanging up, Ethan immediately started to leave.

For some reason, I spoke up.

“Ethan, because of her, we haven’t even taken proper wedding portraits these past few days.”

“Are you really going to leave me here without even trying on your suit?”

Ethan frowned slightly, his eyes full of hesitation.

But in the end, he still chose Lila. Before he left, he tried to soothe me. “Sylvia, she needs someone right now. I’ll come back after I stay with her for a while. Wait for me, okay?”

It was clearly a question, but Ethan did not wait for my answer before disappearing without a

trace.

I smiled faintly, but I could not suppress the sour ache in my chest.

It began to rain outside, and Ethan did not send anyone to pick me up.

So I waited in the bridal salon from day until night. In the end, one of the staff members

finally came over to hurry me along.

“Ms. Hayes, we’re closing.”

Only then did I snap back to myself and realize I had waited for Ethan for so long.

I nodded. Before leaving, I glanced at the wedding dress and told the staff member, “Please let out the waist by about an inch. The bride is pregnant.”

“And make the veil thicker, too. Thick enough that you’d have to get close to see her face clearly.”

The staff member nodded, then glanced at my flat stomach.

I did not explain. I simply turned and left.
