Don’t Be Scared, Hubby. This Is What You Wished For Chapter 01

Don’t Be Scared, Hubby. This Is What You Wished For Chapter 01

Seven years ago, Adrian Caldwell snapped One Wish Willow in half and made a wish.

“I wish Lena Whitmore would fall madly in love with me.”

This year, he asked me for a divorce.

Because he was tired of me watching him every day and tracking his every move.

According to him, all he had done was keep Claire’s stockings for her and drive her home once.

So I went to his company and caused a scene.

Like a madwoman, I stripped Claire of her clothes and humiliated her so badly that she attempted suicide and ended up hospitalized.

“I do LOVE you.”

Seeing the hatred in his eyes, I burst into a desperate laugh.

“How about we die together?”

“We’ll be together forever!!!”

He pushed me away and walked out.

Without a second thought.

Downstairs, Claire sat in the car holding the One Wish Willow.

She gently brushed her fingers against his lips.

“Don’t be upset anymore. It’s my birthday today. I’ll let you make one wish.”

Adrian looked exhausted.

A bitter smile appeared on his lips.

“If it could really come true…”

“I wish Lena Whitmore would stop loving me.”

The next second.

Bang!

I jumped from the third floor.

When I woke up, every memory of us was GONE.

My best friend held up a photo of us and told me we had been married for years.

She told me I loved him more than anything.

I only laughed.

“Impossible.”

“The person I love is Ethan Parker.”

“We’re getting married next month!”

“I’m not lying to you.”

“Adrian booked a business trip for the day after tomorrow. You suspected he was secretly going on a trip with Claire, so you confronted him.”

“He was tired of you monitoring him and doubting him every single day, so he asked for a divorce.”

“You lost control for a moment and jumped.”

I didn’t believe a word of it.

I couldn’t believe I’d leave the childhood sweetheart who had taken care of me my whole life for a man who treated me like this.

I laughed it off and asked if she’d made up the whole story just to mess with me.

My best friend, Maya Collins, sighed.

“He’s in the room next door right now, staying with Claire because she’s still shaken up.”

“If you don’t believe me, go see for yourself.”

She pushed me over to the door of the next hospital room.

Through the crack in the door, I saw the man from the photo holding his phone and chatting with Claire, who was lying in bed.

“I could only get one tent. The store said they’re sold out, and there’s no time to order another one. We leave the day after tomorrow.”

“That’s fine. Just make a little room for me.”

“Did you get all the toiletries?”

“I even got your tampons ready.”

Claire Bennett smiled.

Then, she suddenly pressed her lips together.

“Lena…”

The moment my name came up, Adrian’s expression turned weary and irritated.

“I already asked the doctor. She’s not badly hurt. She doesn’t need me looking after her around the clock.”

“And I promised I’d go on this birthday trip with you, so I’m keeping that promise. I’ll find someone to look after her. We’ll deal with everything else when we get back.”

I looked up at the LED display in the hospital hallway.

The date and time really were seven years later.

Maya hadn’t lied to me.

This man really was my husband.

And the suspicions the old me had been condemned for had turned out to be true.

He really was using a business trip as an excuse to travel with another woman.

Two hospital rooms.

Right next to each other.

His own wife had jumped from a building.

He hadn’t shown any concern.

He hadn’t stayed with me.

He hadn’t even come to see me once.

How the hell had I fallen in love with a piece of trash like him?

“We all think the wish Adrian made back then actually came true.”

Adrian had made a wish the night before Ethan and I were supposed to get married.

He wished for me to fall madly in love with him and said he was willing to pay any price for it.

The next day, he broke his right leg.

And the wish really did come true.

Like I’d lost my mind, I called off the wedding and got a marriage license with Adrian instead.

I couldn’t even remember who Ethan was anymore.

By the seventh year, Adrian had gotten sick of me.

He was the one who had begged for me to love him, and now he was the one who thought I was crazy.

How ridiculous.

Now I couldn’t remember anything about those seven years, and he didn’t love me anymore.

There was no reason for this marriage to continue.

I went back to my hospital room and pulled out my phone.

I had just pulled up Ethan’s number when Adrian walked in.

“The doctor said you shouldn’t eat anything hard to digest. Have some fruit first. I already peeled and cut it for you.”

It was the same fruit Claire had been eating earlier, left over on her bedside table.

When I didn’t say anything, Adrian rolled his eyes.

He tossed his phone in front of me.

“Here. Check it.”

“My location history is right there. Other than going out to buy you fruit, I haven’t been anywhere.”

“Or do you just want to throw another tantrum?”

“Fine. Your arm’s broken, so I’ll do the smashing for you.”

He wrecked the hospital room until it looked like a hurricane had torn through it.

Every crash was loaded with pent-up rage, as if he were deliberately putting on the whole display for me.

Standing amid the wreckage, he looked up at me blankly.

“Satisfied?”

“If you are, get some rest.”

“I still have work. I don’t have any extra time to stay here with you.”

The door slammed shut behind him.

I stopped Maya, who was furious.

“I’m going to find Ethan.”

I saw the messages he had sent half an hour ago.

[Lena, I’m leaving the country. My flight takes off in three hours. If you regret it, come to the airport.]

[If you don’t, I won’t wait for you anymore.]

I didn’t care about Adrian anymore.

I only wanted to go back to the man who truly loved me.

Following the address saved on my phone, I went back to the home Adrian and I shared.

The divorce papers lay open on the living room table.

I signed them.

Then I went into the bedroom, found my passport, packed a few clothes, and got ready to head to the airport.

Just then, the front door suddenly swung open.
