Divorced & Dying The Mafia Boss Regrets Everything Chapter 19

A hospital was no place for a newborn baby or an old man. Finnegan stood until his back went stiff; his son had to coax him down. Finally, it was Dominic who told him to go first.

Bag after bag of blood was going in.

Whenever the operating room door opened, the three men outside stiffened.

Then a nurse came running out in a panic. “Does anyone here have type A blood? Type O will do too!”

“Me!”

“I do.”

The two men rushed forward at the same time.

Henry and Liam exchanged a quick glance.

“All right, follow me!”

Dominic clenched his teeth, his strength gone. He leaned against the wall behind him, a chill seeping into

his bones.

In that moment, he truly thought Grace had terrible taste.

How had she managed to pick the one man who had always looked down on her, always been a step too late, and in the end couldn’t save her–out of all the men who cared about her?

It was just awful.

Dominic covered his face, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed his panic.

It wasn’t until the light in the emergency room finally went out that he realized it was already eight in the morning of the next day.

Seven critical condition notices had been issued. This time, Dominic, as her legal ex–husband, didn’t hesitate. He checked the “spouse” box and signed his name decisively.

Henry watched without a word. Liam glared at him and ground out, “You’re not…”

The man didn’t pay him any attention.

The moment Grace was wheeled out, she was taken straight to the ICU. The lead surgeon quickly stopped the men who were about to follow her inside, took off his mask, drank some water, and spoke gravely.

“We’ve done everything we can. Normally, she should wake up once the medication wears off, but we’ve found that her will to live is very weak. I’m telling you this so you can be prepared.”

Liam was called back home. Henry was busy notifying Finnegan and the others, leaving only Dominic outside the ward.

He stared at Grace, who had never looked so frail. It was as if she might vanish if he looked away for even a second.

Disappear into that small window

His subordinate came close and whispered, “Mr. Dominic, Miss Sienna had a difficult delivery. The baby was stillborn.”

Dominic felt nothing inside, but looking at Grace like this, he thought it wasn’t enough. “Bring that doctor

here. Let him get a good look.”

“And inform Sienna’s family. Let them handle it. Whatever happens is up to her.”

The subordinate nodded, but he was secretly surprised that his boss didn’t spare him a single glance, all his

focus on the person in the hospital room.

After the man left, Finnegan returned.

Seeing Dominic’s exhausted state, Finnegan pressed his lips together, squared his jaw, and sighed as he walked up behind him. “Standing here like this won’t help. Go get some rest. You don’t want to be worn out

when she wakes up.”

No answer.

Finnegan tried again, but when he got no response, he took a couple of steps to the side to sit down. Only then did Dominic speak. “Finnegan, I was wrong.

Finnegan froze, his grip on his cane tightening.

“I’m old. I don’t understand you young people. But I know you I know you can’t possibly have no feelings for Grace. That’s why I’m telling you: for old times‘ sake, don’t go too far. You know full well she… Ah, never

mind.”

Finnegan knew that any lecture at this point would be useless, so he kept quiet.

But Dominic wouldn’t let it go. “Go on. Give me a piece of your mind.”

Finnegan stared as Dominic knelt in front of him.

Finnegan talked for a long time, but in the end, he went easy on him.

He looked at the door behind him, thought about the situation Henry had described, and just hearing about it sent a chill through him.

“…It’s my fault too. Taking the baby to see her probably made her think she had no regrets…”

“She endured this pain for so long, just waiting for this moment.”

Something made Dominic’s eyes redden. His chest heaved. “What do you mean, no regrets? She… she didn’t even wait for me…”

“Who is Grace’s family? She’s awake!”

Before Finnegan could finish, Dominic had already disappeared.
