Canceled Honeymoon Chapter 17

Canceled Honeymoon Chapter 17

But this time, Damian didn’t rush to stop her.

He stood still. His eyes were cold.

He just stared at her fingers gripping the railing.

Poppy froze. She hadn’t expected him to be so calm.

She couldn’t climb back or jump forward without looking like a fool.

People were staring at her ridiculous display. She bit her lip, humiliated.

“Damian.”

Her voice broke. “You don’t care if I die in front of you?”

His answer shattered her last hope.

“Is your anxiety cured?”

Days of neglect and coldness, and now this icy question.

Poppy was exposed and shattered.

She scrambled back over the railing and charged at me as I came out of a café.

She slammed into me. My coffee spilled. My bag contents scattered.

Damian ran over and grabbed Poppy’s arm.

His face was dark. “What the hell is wrong with you?! Don’t touch her!”

Poppy’s eyes landed on the pill bottle that had fallen out.

She snatched it up and waved it at Damian like a trophy.

“Damian, look! What’s this?”

“Sertraline! Antidepressants! Why does she carry these around?”

“You follow her around like a puppy and you don’t even know she’s unstable! A crazy person! She found some other guy the second she left the country and now she’s back on meds!”

Damian went rigid.

He stared at the bottle. His throat worked. He seemed to have trouble breathing.

He choked out, “Claire, that’s not yours…”

I didn’t hide it. I took the bottle back from Poppy.

“It’s mine.”

I wasn’t going to explain to Damian. I just wanted him to give up and leave faster.
