Betray the Mafia Heiress? You’re Finished. Chapter 07

The commotion tonight had been quite a mess. By the time I got home, Papa was still awake.

As soon as I walked in, everyone swarmed around to check if I was hurt.

When Papa saw the red marks around my neck from being choked, he flew into a rage instantly. “That damned bastard! I wouldn’t even bear to lay a finger on you two, yet he dared to hurt my daughter! I’ll go destroy him myself!”

Florence sighed in helplessness, pulling out Cian’s medical report and handing it to him.

“Don’t worry, Papa. When has Hazel ever let herself be wronged? Cian went to the hospital for a medical

evaluation this afternoon-he got eight stitches on his head, and tonight she beat him until he was bleeding

nonstop again.”

Upon hearing this, a look of relief and pride crossed Papa’s face.

He gave me a hearty, proud praise, “That’s my girl! Just like me when I was young! That’s how it should be-

let’s see who dares to bully someone from the Valenti family again!”

After thinking for a moment, Papa still felt unsatisfied.

Not only did he cut off all cooperation with Cian, but he also spread the word publicly: anyone who partnered

with Cian would be declaring war on the entire Valenti family.

When Cian heard this news, he collapsed onto the sofa in a daze.

Just then, his assistant rushed in again, “Sir, check this out-doesn’t the woman in this video throwing the

party look like your wife?”

In the early days of Cian’s business, I had accompanied him to the company every day to clean. Everyone there knew who I was, and they also knew I had stood by him through two tough low points.

That’s why they all thought I was just an ordinary woman.

But now, in the video, there I was, throwing a party in a villa worth ten million dollars, popping open a bottle of champagne worth a hundred thousand dollars without a care.

When Cian clearly saw me cheering by the pool, shock flashed in his eyes.

Glancing at the video’s release date, he realized it was from half a month ago.

Then it hit him.

Two weeks ago, I’d been telling him every single day that I was out delivering food in the rain and sun, that I

was slammed with work, and not to bother me unless it was important.

Meanwhile, his head and his heart had been completely consumed by Elara.

So while I was supposedly “busy,” he’d used work trips as an excuse to slip away.

He took Elara to Disneyland-the very place I’d told him I’d always wanted to go.

He had watched the brilliant summer fireworks with her, and accompanied her to the hospital for a check-up,

dreaming of helping her get in shape so she could have their child the next year.

So he never had the mental space to wonder: why was it that I, supposedly out delivering food in all kinds of

weather, always came home spotless?

Why was I able to hand him a thousand dollars every single day?

As Cian replayed everything in his mind, his heart felt as if it had been stabbed repeatedly, the pain almost

unbearable.

His fingers trembling, he continued scrolling through the other videos from the blogger.

That’s when he realized-while he had been sneaking around with Elara, I had been drinking and having fun

with my friends at clubs.

The more he watched, the darker his expression became.

Until he accidentally clicked on one video, and faintly heard the sound of my voice talking to a friend.

“Hazel, you knew Cian was cheating on you the whole time. So why did you bring down his company and pretend to be some devoted lover suffering alongside him? Are you that into him? Are you really that

lovesick?”

In the video, I let out a scornful laugh. “Not a chance. Him? He disgusts me.”

“He destroyed every illusion I ever had about love. And he thought he could just walk away clean? The world doesn’t work that way. Everyone who does something wrong has to pay the price. Why should he be any

different?”

Hearing that I was the one who had destroyed his company, all of Cian’s sanity crumbled in an instant.

His eyes turned bloodshot, and he let out a painful roar. “Hazel! How could you… how could you do this to

me?”

After the first bankruptcy, he’d thought about settling down with me. About making things work.

But he couldn’t let it go.

He couldn’t accept that Elara had run away with his money.

So after restarting his business and getting his first sum of capital he had secretly gone abroad to coax her

back.

He had told himself that since Elara had betrayed him, he had to get his revenge.

But he had always been unable to resist falling into Elara’s trap of tenderness, willingly giving everything to

her.

He had planned that once the company was fully stable, he would give me a sum of money to thank me for

my years of company.

Then he would marry Elara and live the happy life they had dreamed of.

He had naively thought that someone as love-struck as me would be grateful for any amount of money he

gave me.

He had never imagined that for the past three years, he had been living in my lie.

I had built him a huge Truman Show.
