Betray the Mafia Heiress? You’re Finished. Chapter 08

Cian took a long time to process everything.

By the time he finally calmed down, he grabbed his coat and hurried out of the office.

As for me? The very next day after I got home, Florence dragged me into the company and put me to work.

When Cian showed up at the company, I was discussing the person in charge of the new project with her.

“Have you made up your mind to get a divorce?”

I sat on the office chair spinning casually, not even glancing at him.

“Hazel, all those years of pretending to suffer by my side-was it all an act?”

Once, after a long day of “work,” I would smile bitterly and tell him about the things that had happened to me

outside.

He didn’t like watching videos, and his mind was always on Elara.

He never realized that everything I told him was from the videos I’d watched, stories about other people.

Looking at him now, stubborn and determined to get an answer, a hint of mockery flashed in my eyes as I retorted, “Why on earth would you think that someone you’ve betrayed would still give you her whole heart while scraping by through hard times?”

“Hazel! Is this a joke to you? Watching me act like a fool while you pulled the strings behind my back, did you enjoy it?” Cian’s face twisted with ferocity as he roared at me.

Compared to his fury, I was the picture of calm indifference. “Didn’t you lie to me?”

When he bought Elara that $300,000 bag, we were still living in a damp, dark basement.

If I hadn’t had money to take care of myself every day, I would have really become the old hag they mocked

me for being.

He could be selfish, so why couldn’t I?

Cian felt guilty deep down. When I said that, much of his anger subsided.

He hung his head in silence.

After a long while, he looked up and sighed softly. “Hazel, let’s stop this nonsense. I can pretend nothing

happened. I’ll send Elara away. Let’s just move on and live a proper life together.”

Ridiculous.

Did he really think that saying something like that would make me want to stay and play house with him?

Sometimes, I truly admired his naivety.

“Cian, how does a gigolo who made his fortune off a woman have the nerve to say something like that?”

I asked the question I’d been holding back for so long.

When he first started his business, he was allergic to alcohol. Every business deal was secured by me

drinking with others.

When he encountered problems and took wrong turns, I secretly asked Florence for help to fix them for him.

Any decent person would know to be grateful, to cherish the hard-won happiness.

Why couldn’t he? Not only was he ungrateful, but he also cheated on me with someone else.

And then try to kick me out with nothing.

If it had been someone else, maybe they really would have been torn apart, ground down to nothing.

Unfortunately for him, he’d crossed me.

“What the hell are you talking about? Everything I’ve achieved, I earned with my own two hands!”

I watched him snap and roar, bursting into laughter.

His words were so absurd they made my stomach hurt.

I struggled to contain my laughter, stood up, and faced him directly. “Cian, you’ll soon find out if you’re a

gigolo.”

The next moment, right in front of him, I took out my phone and completely pulled back every last resource I

had put into his company.

Cian didn’t believe it at first.

Not until he kept receiving calls from his assistant, telling him that partners were withdrawing their investments, that senior engineers in the technical department had submitted their resignations, and that more than half of the company’s employees had left in just a few minutes.

“How could this be…” He stared at the pile of resignation letters in his email in disbelief, muttering to himself

repeatedly.

I couldn’t help but laugh. “Cian, didn’t you ever wonder why a senior engineer from the technical department would choose your small workshop over a well-known big company?”

“Because they were all sent by me.”

Not only were the company’s employees sent by me, but even the partners had chosen him out of respect for

“Hazel, what exactly do you think you’re getting out of all this? Don’t forget, we’re married. What’s yours is

mine, and I…”

I smiled, took the prenuptial agreement with his signature out of the drawer, and handed it to him. “Did you

forget? You signed this before we got married.”

When we got married, his career had just started.

His parents had urged him to give me this agreement to sign.

I hadn’t wanted to sign it at first, but thinking about my own assets, I did.

After all, his little money was nothing to me.

Now, Cian had nothing to say.

“Three years of hardship couldn’t teach you how to be a decent human being. But from now on, the rest of

your life will.”

I called someone in and had him thrown out directly.

After I withdrew all my resources, Cian’s company declined day by day.

It was forced to declare bankruptcy in less than half a month.

Elara tried to repeat her old trick-stealing money and running away.

But Cian had guessed her plan.

That night, he drove to block her path.

Unexpectedly, they encountered a drunk driver.

Three cars collided, causing a small chain accident.

Both of them died on the spot.

I found out about it just as I boarded the plane for a business trip.

My assistant mentioned it while watching the news.

I just gave a soft, indifferent “Oh.”

Everyone makes their own choices.

And everyone has to answer for them. No exceptions.
