Betray the Mafia Heiress? You’re Finished. Chapter 04

I watched as he stumbled backward, clutching his bleeding abdomen in terror.

I steadied my breathing and smiled slowly.

Elara rushed over in tears, checking his wound frantically. “Hazel, you’re the one who’s finished! Look what

you did to Cian! You really think you’re getting away with this? I’m calling the police right now!”

The others finally snapped out of their shock, surrounding me in a tight circle.

“You’re not leaving until they get here!”

Excitement and triumphant provocation danced in their eyes, as if they were already savoring the show.

They were in for a disappointment, though.

The hotel’s surveillance cameras had “malfunctioned.” Not a single frame had been captured.

None of them could produce any evidence that I’d hurt anyone.

When we walked out of the police station, Elara and Cian wore grim expressions, yet they couldn’t find a

single insult to hurl at me.

The others were seething with anger.

One of them blustered, “Don’t you dare leave. Just wait, I’ll get some people to teach you a lesson.”

But the man beside him suddenly went pale, his hand trembling violently as he stared at his phone.

“I’m screwed… I lost my job. The company fired me outright, saying I offended the second young lady of the Valenti family. I’m blacklisted from the entire New York business world-I’ll never find work again…”

“Wait-me too! My shop got raided, and my accounts are frozen. Who the hell is the second daughter of the Valenti family? When did I ever cross her?”

“Wait a minute… Hazel is the only one here whose last name is Valenti!”

At that moment, Cian’s phone buzzed. He opened the message with shaking hands, freezing in place, his

eyes empty as he mumbled the words aloud.

“Valenti Group announces the termination of all partnerships with Barone Technologies, the freezing of all

associated funds, and a permanent industry-wide blacklist… How could this be!”

His head snapped toward me. His eyes were wide with terror and utter disbelief. His voice shook. “Hazel… who exactly are you?”

The men who’d just threatened to teach me a lesson now looked like deflated balloons, slumping to the

ground in a daze.

Elara glanced at the message on Cian’s phone, scoffing in disdain. “It’s probably a prank. When has a major

family ever canceled a deal in the middle of the night for some nobody?”

Her words made some of them hesitate, half-convinced.

Only the man who’d been fired sat on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably. “But I really was fired! My boss

texted me personally-how could that be a prank?”

It was the same man who’d egged Cian on to hit me in the private room.

He suddenly looked up at me, his eyes wide with disbelief, and whispered shakily. “Could Hazel… be the

second young lady of the Valenti family?”

“No way!” Elara rolled her eyes in contempt. “If she were the Valenti family’s second young lady, how could Cian not know? And if she were really that connected, how did Cian’s company go bankrupt in the first

place?”

“Don’t forget-for years, she’d do anything for money just to pay off his debts.”

She patted the high-end custom bag in her hand triumphantly, her tone laced with sarcasm. “If she didn’t work her ass off, how else would Cian afford to buy me a threehundredthousand bag?”

Watching her act like a clown, so proud of her trivial gains, I couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

Cian really was something else.

He’d lied to me, saying he had no money, making me work myself to exhaustion to pay his debts.

Yet he’d bought her a $300,000 bag without a second thought.

My laugh sent a chill down Elara’s spine. A sense of unease crept over her, and she snapped. “You bitch!

What are you laughing at?”

I laughed at their stupidity.

Every penny I’d given Cian had been money he’d “earned” himself.

After all, I was his creditor.

“Oh, I’m just laughing because you just reminded me,” I said, my smile cold. “I just realized-Cian and I are still married. And every cent you spent, as his mistress, came from our joint marital property. Tell me… how will

you pay it all back if I decide to claim it?”
