Back to the Day She Stole My Mafia Fiancé Chapter 07

Ever since I came back, one thing had been eating at me: why Luciana had staged the whole

amnesia routine in the first place.

Was it really just about wanting Antonio?

I put one of our best fixers on it. What they found was worse than I expected. Luciana’s years of “studying abroad” had been a cover. She’d been gambling.

At first, it was small: a few hundred here, a couple thousand there. Nothing anyone would notice

But right before she came home, someone got her onto that Russian oligarch’s yacht, the one with the high-stakes underground casino.

Stuck at sea with nowhere to go and tables open around the clock, she lost control completely.

By the time she came up for air, she was almost a million dollars in debt to the wrong people.

But her personal trust fund had already been drained to cover her previous messes. There was no clean money left.

That’s when she heard about my engagement.

And the sprawling estate and clean assets Antonio had put in my name for the wedding.

So she built her plan. Stage the accident. Fake the amnesia. Attach herself to Antonio. Get the estate. Pay off her markers. Every piece of my life, dismantled and sold off to cover what she owed.

She’d been terrified at first, afraid someone would see through it. But once my parents fell in line without asking a single question, she stopped holding back.

When the truth finally came out, it gutted them. They aged ten years in a week, unable to accept that the daughter they’d protected above all else was the one who’d been destroying the family.

They had to liquidate prime family assets to cover her debts and keep the Russians from putting a

hit on her.

They called me. Over and over. I let every single one go to voicemail.

It was too late.

In my last life, every single time Luciana tore another piece out of me, I’d waited for them to step in.

All I got was a cold grave and their relief that it was over.

After Luciana went to federal holding, Antonio showed up.

He dropped to one knee right there in the foundation lobby, tears running down his face, holding, out a ring like it meant something.

“Natalia, I was wrong. I’ve had time to think, and I know now. It’s you. It’s always been you. I can’t

live without you.”

I watched the whole performance with a smile. Then I handed him a piece of paper.

“That’s a copy of Luciana’s federal intake medical screening.”

“She tested positive for something you’re going to want to get checked for.”

The color drained from Antonio’s face. He didn’t say another word. He just grabbed the paper and

ran.

The Commission formally ousted him from the syndicate shortly after.

Weeks later, someone from the underground rumor mill said they’d spotted him at an infectious

disease clinic…

But none of that was my problem anymore.

I slipped the Sterling signet ring onto my index finger, took a breath, and walked into the boardroom to take my seat at the head of the table.
