Back to the Day She Stole My Mafia Fiancé Chapter 02

Right now, though, none of that had happened yet.

Luciana was still sobbing.

“I don’t understand. You’re my sister, Natalia!”

She clutched her chest, choking on her own breath, the color draining from her face. “What did I ever do to you? You took the Bellini ring like my pain meant nothing…”

Riccardo didn’t even let her finish.

“What is wrong with you, Natalia? She just survived a car accident. She can’t even remember her own life. And you’re out here picking fights with her? Are you serious right now?”

He yanked my hand up, twisted the ring off my finger, and flushed it down the toilet. “There. Problem solved. Good luck showing that off.”

Funny, at the engagement party, he’d looked me in the eye and sworn he’d always have my back. “Anyone touches a hair on your head, Natalia, I’ll bury them.”

Mom and Dad weren’t any kinder.

“Luciana is sick. She needs us right now.”

“You need to back off, Natalia. If you upset her again, you can pack your things and leave. We’ll pretend we never had a second daughter.”

Luciana was the only daughter they saw.

Nobody remembered that today was supposed to be mine.

No congratulations. No celebration. Just wreckage.

None of this surprised me.

In my last life, floating above the wreckage, I watched them cry over my body.

But the moment Luciana turned on the tears, their grief vanished. The family issued a statement: a tragic accident. Disorientation. Sleepwalking. Anything to keep the Sterling name—and Luciana’s hands—clean.

Standing over my casket, they looked almost relieved. They muttered about peace and letting go of grudges, glad the messy loose end had tied itself up.

“The family moves on.”

Their fresh start was built on top of my corpse.

I’d already lived through this once. But their coldness still landed exactly where it always did, right in the center of my chest.

I looked at the three of them wrapped around each other.

My face gave them nothing. “Fine. Do whatever you want.”

I packed a bag, cleared the safe, and left the Sterling estate before they returned.

The next morning, I pulled myself together and walked into the family’s foundation headquarters.

I barely made it through the lobby before the staff started kissing up, congratulating me on the engagement.

“We’re all waiting for the wedding of the decade, Ms. Sterling!”

“A union between the Sterlings and the Bellinis—it’s historic.”

His name hit me like a wall.

Just like that, I was back on that rooftop. Broken on the pavement. Trying to hold on and failing. Feeling everything drain out of me, second by second…

I would never feel that helpless again. Not in this life.

I steadied myself and opened my mouth to set the record straight about Antonio.

But before I got a word out, the glass doors swung open. Luciana stormed into the lobby, grabbed a heavy brass centerpiece off the reception desk, and hurled it straight at me.

“You used the engagement to steal my place! Antonio was meant for me!”

The whole office went still, then erupted.

“Oh my God. No way.”

“I always wondered why Don Bellini chose the younger sister. Makes sense now.”

“Going after her own blood’s fiancé… brutal.”

Every face in that office had already made up its mind.

Their stares crawled over my skin.

I stood there and let her finish. Then I looked her dead in the eye. “Are you done?”

“You’ve always been jealous of me, Natalia. Always trying to tear me down because I had more than you.”

Luciana forced a broken smile through the tears. “I used to let things go because you’re my little sister. But you’re destroying me.”

“I’m pregnant, Natalia.” She touched her stomach, her voice cracking perfectly. “This baby is a Bellini. Are you really going to rip a father away from his child?”

“Just let him go. Please. He was mine first.”

She was good. I’d give her that.

One hand cradled her belly, tears streaming in perfect lines down her cheeks. Every person in that room was eating out of her palm.

And then, right on cue, her co-star arrived.

Antonio walked in and froze.

His eyes flickered to me for half a second, just long enough to look away. Then he went straight to Luciana, his whole face softening the moment he reached her.

And just like that, the story wrote itself. The devoted boyfriend rushes to the pregnant woman’s side, and the villain is the sister who tried to keep them apart.

The whispers turned into open conversation. Nobody was even pretending to be quiet anymore.

I tuned all of it out, pulled out my phone, and called 911.

Then I made a second call, to a private psychiatric facility on the payroll.

Luciana loved playing the madwoman to get what she wanted.

Fine. Let’s see how she handles a real padded cell.
