Back to the Day She Stole My Mafia Fiancé Chapter 01

“You went after Antonio. Your own sister’s fiancé. How do you even live with yourself?”

My eyes snapped open to Luciana Sterling charging at me, scissors clenched in her fist, aimed right at my face.

Instinct took over. I shoved her back. She stumbled, the scissors clattering out of her grip, and she collapsed to the floor.

“I’m your sister. How could you do this to me…”

She buried her face in her hands, sobbing so hard no sound came out.

My parents rushed out of the room, flanking her immediately, whispering assurances like she was the only one bleeding.

The hallway was full of people, and every single one of them was staring at me.

“Is that the sister? I heard she stole her own sibling’s fiancé.”

“Right after the poor girl was in a car crash? That’s sick.”

I stared at the fragile little performance in front of me and dug my nails into my palm.

The sting cut through the fog.

This was real. I’d been reborn.

Sent back to the exact day of Luciana’s accident—the day her memories supposedly vanished.

In my last life, today was meant to be my triumph: my engagement to Antonio Bellini.

Luciana had been studying overseas. She flew home just to celebrate with me, but her car got hit on the way back from the airport.

When she woke up, her memory was gone, or so she claimed. She was convinced Antonio was hers, that he’d always been hers.

The moment she found out I was engaged to him, she fell apart.

“He loves me! He’s always loved me!”

“You’re my sister, Natalia. How could you steal him from me?”

After that, Luciana treated me like I was the one who’d destroyed her life.

It didn’t matter where we were or who was watching. She’d scream at me, hit me, throw whatever was within reach.

The worst time, she poured scalding water on me. The scars never faded.

My life became something I just survived, day by day.

But everyone around me said it was my fault.

“She only came back for you. If it weren’t for your engagement, she’d still have her memory. You owe her everything.”

“She’s a patient, Natalia. She doesn’t know what she’s doing. What’s your excuse?”

So I swallowed it. Every tantrum, every attack, every cruelty, I just took it.

And Luciana became everyone’s priority.

She’d fixate on the diamond on my finger, tears pooling in her eyes before she forced a trembling smile. “I guess… I guess he belongs to Natalia now. As long as he’s happy.”

Then behind closed doors, she’d cry until she had to be rushed to the ER, dehydrated and shaking.

Riccardo Sterling, who had always treated Luciana like a fragile saint, ripped the engagement ring off my finger and hurled it down a storm drain, just to pacify her.

It didn’t matter how wild her demands got. I had to say yes.

If I pushed back even once, she’d spiral, screaming, hyperventilating, pressing a blade to her wrist.

And somehow, in everyone’s eyes, I became the monster pushing her toward the edge.

“She doesn’t even remember who she is. She’s not doing this on purpose. Can’t you just cut her some slack?”

“It’s one small thing. She’s your sister, for God’s sake.”

No one bothered to look at the collateral damage.

Her amnesia became the excuse to erase my entire life.

Everything just went dark.

Like being buried alive while everyone stood over the dirt, telling me to just breathe.

And in the end, I lost Antonio too, the man I’d loved for years, handed over like he was never mine.

“Luciana’s like this because of you. The least you can do is deal with it.”

The one time I finally snapped and pushed back, Antonio looked at me like I was something scraped off his shoe. “She’s your blood, Natalia. What the hell is wrong with you?”

I’ll never forget that night.

Luciana went up to the roof in the middle of the night, screaming that nobody loved her.

I ran up there the second I heard.

She shoved me off the edge without a second’s hesitation. I hit the ground so hard I couldn’t tell what was broken and what was bleeding.

Antonio showed up minutes later. He saw me on the ground. I know he saw me. But he ran right past me, straight up to the roof, and pulled Luciana into his arms. Wiped her tears like she was the one who’d been hurt.

“Hey. It’s always been you. You know that, right?”

Right there in the cold air, he buried his face in her hair and kissed her.

And I was still on the ground below them, forgotten.

He saw me.

Why didn’t he save me?

I kept waiting, begging my body to hold on.

I was still alive.

But all that came was the cold. My warmth leaving me in slow pulses. My breath thinning out to nothing. And then it was gone.

Somewhere above my own body, I saw Luciana’s face. She was smiling.

She never lost her memory.

The accident, the amnesia, all of it was a performance. Every last second of it.

She wanted Antonio for herself. That was it. And she’d burned my entire life down to get him.

And I let her.

Never again.

But now my eyes were open. And this time, I knew exactly who she was.
