After I Walked Away and Found My Real Home, They Finally Regretted It Chapter 08

“The real Amelia died long ago. She’s an impostor.”

Everyone froze.

“Nathaniel… what are you saying?”

Richard almost collapsed.

“The real Amelia… her parents sold her to a mentally ill person.”

“After three days of abuse, she couldn’t take it and swallowed rat poison to end her life.”

The revelation hit like a bomb. Their minds went blank.

“She’s a complete fraud!”

“Everything she said about Vivian hurting her… it was all lies!”

Nathaniel’s eyes were red, full of guilt and regret.

“Nathaniel… are you saying we were all deceived?”

“Vivian never hurt her… never bullied her… never cyberbullied her?”

“And what we did to Vivian…”

The realization left Leo speechless. He punched the wall beside Amelia.

“You lied to me?”

“You think you can get away with this?”

Leo grabbed Amelia by the collar, his grip tight, his vision swimming red.

Beside them, Julian’s legs gave out. He collapsed against the wall near the entryway.

Margaret let out a broken cry before crumpling to the floor, completely unconscious.

For one night, the Sinclair household was in chaos. Lights flickered, voices rose, and emotions ran wild.

At dawn, they suddenly remembered something I had said, about another world.

“Nathaniel, we need to find Vivian… beg her forgiveness!”

In that other world, on a hospital bed, I opened my eyes.

I heard cries of despair, “Vivian! Wake up!”

“Look at Mom!”

“Don’t scare Mom!”

I saw my mother, dressed in hospital garb, crying uncontrollably.

“Mom…” I hugged her tightly, breathing in her familiar scent.

The pain I had endured before melted away in her warm embrace.

I was home.

[Host, this mission is complete. Do you truly wish to forgo one hundred million to cure your mother’s cancer?]

I didn’t hesitate.

What in the world could matter more than Mom?

Three weeks later, our family accompanied Mom for a follow-up.

I clenched my fingers tightly, refusing to relax until we had the results.

The doctor stared at the report in disbelief. “This… this is impossible! Your cancer… it’s cured!”

“This might be the first case in the world!”

He checked and rechecked the report. My heart finally settled.

Dad and my brother were stunned, repeating the doctor’s words in shock.

“Cancer… cured?”

“My wife… my mom… she won’t die?” Two grown men wiped tears from their eyes.

Mom, however, was calm.

“I told you, it’s nothing. I’m not dying. See? No big deal…”

Her eyes glistened as she pulled me into a hug.

Dad chuckled, pulling my brother close.

The four of us embraced, grateful to survive this ordeal together.

“So good…”

“My mom’s back.”

“Our family isn’t broken.”

That night, Dad cooked a feast to celebrate Mom’s recovery.

I lay in my familiar bed, still a little dazed, until my old friend Clara called.

“Vivian! You’re back!”

“Mrs. Sinclair’s illness is cured, congratulations!”
