After I Walked Away and Found My Real Home, They Finally Regretted It Chapter 01

Before my best friend killed herself, she drove straight in to my eldest brother and shattered his leg, then jumped from the thirtieth floor.

She lay in a pool of blood, smiling brightly as she looked at me.

“Vivian, I’ll be waiting for you on the other side.”

I knew she had chosen death as her way out of this world.

That night, I bought myself a birthday cake and sent a message to the family group chat, telling them I was leaving.

My second brother, the doctor, replied coldly with a single word. [Noted.]

My third brother, the international pop star, sent a voice message full of mockery.

“If you’re going to die, hurry up and do it. All you ever do is envy Amelia. If you die today, I’ll livestream myself eating shit for the whole internet.”

My parents said nothing.

They flooded the group chat with photos of Amelia Sinclair celebrating her birthday at Disneyland.

Only my eldest brother, the CEO, sent voice message after voice message, his voice breaking each time.

“Vivian, you know where Clara went, don’t you?”

“I’m begging you. Please tell me.”

I didn’t reply to a single word. I ate the cake by myself.

Because I was about to reunite with my real parents and my real brother.

After finishing the slice I had cut, I opened the system and selected a method of suicide.

[Host, are you sure you want to choose this method?]

[This form of death will be extremely painful. I suggest you reconsider.]

The Interface’s mechanical voice issued its warning.

I ignored it and pressed confirm.

After that, I finally had time to look at my phone.

The family group chat was still exploding with messages.

It was Amelia’s eighteenth birthday, and the Sinclairs had thrown her an extravagant coming-of-age gala.

My second brother had postponed multiple surgeries and cleared his entire day just to stay with her.

My third brother had pushed back a nationwide concert tour, just to sing her a birthday song in person.

Only my eldest brother, lying in a hospital bed with a shattered leg from Clara’s crash, kept sending voice messages in guilt and despair.

“Vivian, please tell me where Clara went.”

“I’m begging you.”

After listening to a few, I turned my phone off.

I threw the remaining cake into the trash and followed the system’s instructions to the place where I would die.

St. Victoria Medical Center.

The moment I reached the hospital entrance, my phone rang.

“Vivian, what did you say to Amelia?!”

“Why did she take sleeping pills and try to kill herself?!”

My third brother’s furious roar pierced straight into my ears.

I held the phone expressionlessly, trying to recall how many times this had happened before.

How many times I’d been framed. How many times I’d been accused.

I couldn’t remember. There had been too many.

“Is she dead?”

I asked calmly, and hung up before the next wave of curses could come through.

I walked into the hospital alone, looking for somewhere to sit while waiting for the system’s suicide timer.

I had barely sat down when a slap landed hard across my face.

“Vivian Sinclair, you’ve gone too far!”

My second brother stood there in his white coat, rage blazing openly in his eyes.

“I thought you were just spoiled and petty. I didn’t expect you to be this vicious.”

“You actually wanted to hurt someone.”

“As expected of a murderer’s child. Bad blood runs in your veins.”

“Eighteen years in the Sinclair family, and you’re still nothing but rotten to the core.”

“Kneel outside the ER and wait until Amelia wakes up safely.”

He grabbed my arm and yanked me upward.

I struggled violently. My head slammed into the wall, and my vision went black.

Warm liquid slid down my forehead. Only then did Julian Sinclair release me.

Shock and panic flickered across his face.

“Julian,” I said calmly, wiping the blood away. “I never hurt Amelia.”

“I won’t carry a crime I didn’t commit.”
