Richard tried to speak, but Julian stopped him.

“Dad… the director is right,” Julian said.

“We have no right to interfere with Vivian’s decision.”

He swayed slightly, his voice softening.

“Let’s go home. Today is Amelia’s birthday. We can’t let her be unhappy too.”

Leo suddenly spoke. “Today… is also Vivian’s birthday…”

The words hung heavy in the air. Eyes glistened with unshed tears as they quietly left the hospital.

When the car pulled up to the villa, they stepped out, pale and silent.

Before they could enter, the door opened.

“You’re back? How is everyone?”

“Where’s Vivian?”

“I heard about the incident at the hospital… is everyone okay?”

Nathaniel, leaning on his cane, looked exhausted.

He glanced back, then spoke, his voice trembling. “Where’s Vivian?”

“Please… let me talk to her. I want to know what happened to Clara…”

But Leo interrupted, shouting. “Nathaniel! Vivian… she’s dead!”

“She’s gone!”

Nathaniel dropped his cane in disbelief.

“Vivian… dead?”

“She left us too?”

Julian tried to calm him.

“Don’t be too upset. It was her choice. There’s nothing we could do.”

Amelia stepped forward to help Nathaniel, but he barked, “Don’t touch me!”

“Get away!”

Amelia stumbled back, hitting the wall.

“Nathaniel… what are you saying?”

“Vivian’s death has nothing to do with Amelia!”

“You’re punishing her for something she didn’t do?”

Julian bent to help Amelia but heard Nathaniel speak coldly. “Amelia… I’ve checked your past. Everything you’ve done…”

“Are you still pretending?”

“Nathaniel… what are you saying?”

“What pretending?” Leo asked, confused.

Nathaniel pulled out a folder from the foyer, his gaze sharp and unforgiving.

“Amelia, are you really going to deny it?”

“I’ll give you one last chance to tell the truth.” His voice grew colder.

Amelia’s eyes flickered with panic, hands trembling as she clutched Julian’s sleeve.

“Julian… my head hurts… I can’t breathe…”

“Check it for me…”

Before she could finish, Nathaniel slapped her. “Amelia! Enough!”

“Stop pretending!”

The hurt and anger in Amelia’s eyes vanished as quickly as they came.

Tears fell as she stood, collapsing into Margaret’s arms. “Mom… Nathaniel hit me!”

“My face hurts so much!”

The day’s events had left Margaret exhausted.

Hearing Amelia cry only added to her irritation.

“Nathaniel, Amelia is your sister. Speak to her calmly.”

“She’s just returned home. After growing up in that harsh environment, how could she be pretending?”

Margaret held her head. “Leo, soothe your sister. My head hurts. I need to rest.”

She handed Amelia to Leo, then turned toward the stairs.

Suddenly, Nathaniel’s voice cut through coldly.

“Amelia isn’t really a Sinclair!”
