My Alpha Let Our Pup Die for Her Familiar Chapter 04

My Alpha Let Our Pup Die for Her Familiar Chapter 04

I fixed a cold stare on Caius and spat the words. “Caius, I curse you to die the same agonizing death as our Eira.”

“No—a painful death is too easy.”

“I curse you to die in agony, in poverty, despised by everyone.”

Black mist gathered above his head.

The curse took hold.

Caius looked stunned. Before he could speak, Poppy ran out of the Luna suite.

She gave me a pitying look. “Ravenna, are you insane? How can you say that to your own husband?”

She scooped up the black cat with one arm, hooked the other through Caius’s, and cooed. “Caius, let’s go. A she-wolf like her isn’t worth your patience.”

Caius paused. He stared down at me for a long moment, then said flatly, “Ravenna, I was right. You’re not half the wolf Poppy is.”

Then he grabbed Poppy by the chin and kissed her, hard.

They kissed deep and messy, tongues tangling. When they pulled back, a glistening string still hung between their mouths.

It was a show for me—loud, wet, obscene. I half-expected them to start mating right there in the pack house living room.

I glanced at the security camera in the corner. Still running. A bitter laugh echoed inside me.

Soon, the curse struck.

Caius’s beta burst in, panicked, and interrupted their sloppy kiss.

“Alpha Caius! Our core project for the quarter—the Lycan King just shut it down! The allied packs heard, and they’re pulling out of their contracts!”

Caius’s face went paper-white.

He didn’t dare waste a second. He rushed off and didn’t leave his office for two whole weeks.

But Poppy kept posting on MoonFeed every day. Photos of her marked-up collarbone.

Captions like: [Ravenna, if you have any self-respect left, step down as Luna.]

[Your daughter’s been dead for weeks and Caius couldn’t care less. And you still think you’re a threat to me?]

Her words made me freeze.

So she knew Eira was dead.

So she wasn’t innocent at all.

Then it’s time to settle everything.

One of you wants to save his business. The other wants to latch onto a rich wolf. I’ll make sure neither of you gets what you want.

The day after Caius announced the company had weathered the crisis, I called a press conference.

“I, Ravenna Duskfall, am publicly accusing Caius Varron, Alpha of the Silvervein Pack, of betraying his mate and having an extramarital affair with Poppy Larkspur—a student I personally sponsored.” “They conspired. Together. And they made sure I knew, as Luna, that I meant nothing. Again and again.”

“Even when my dying daughter begged to see her father one last time, they mocked her.”

“The screen behind me shows the evidence I’ve gathered. I’m begging everyone here to join me in condemning Caius and Poppy until they give me and Eira the apology we’re owed.”

The words landed like a bomb.

The recordings played through the speakers, crystal clear. “Caius Varron, in your heart, is our daughter worth less than her cat?”

“Of course. He’s not just some cat—he’s Poppy’s familiar. She delivered him herself. That actually means something.”

“Stop using that worthless girl to guilt me.”

“It’s just late-stage Moonblood Wasting. How bad could it really be? Keep using her to guilt me, and I swear I’ll never set foot in that hospital again.”

“Ravenna, you’re not half the wolf Poppy is.”

The screen looped the videos: Poppy’s familiar urinating on Eira’s ashes. Caius kissing Poppy right in front of me.

The media in the room erupted. Viewers watching the livestream were raging.

At the peak of the uproar, Caius stormed in, jabbing his finger at me.

“Poppy already asked a healer—there’s nothing wrong with Eira! You’d stoop this low just for sympathy?”

“Eira isn’t dead! How long are you going to cling to that fake prop?”

He smacked the urn from my hands.

What little remained of her ashes scattered across the floor again.

Still not satisfied, he stomped on them. “A vicious woman like you doesn’t deserve to be my Luna! I’m calling Eira right now to expose your lies!”

Heartbroken, I tried to shove him away. He slapped me across the face.

The call rang and rang. So long that Caius started to look uneasy.

Eira always picked up for him instantly.

Just before it went to voicemail, someone answered. A rough, unfamiliar voice. “Alpha Caius, you finally called. Before she passed, the patient asked me to pass along a message…”
