Dad’s Secret Daughter Called Herself Heiress, But Mom’s Family Owned Everything Chapter 07

Seeing Dad finally acknowledge her biological tie, Tara gained a little more confidence to speak.

“It doesn’t matter who my mother is. I’m still your child. Since you’re a live-in husband in the Morrison family, I should stay here with you, too.”

Tara was practically salivating at the chance to claim a place in my family.

After all, even a sliver of a billionaire’s fortune would set her up for life.

Dad looked at her like he was seeing a ghost. “Are you out of your mind? Why on earth would you stay here with me? Your mother had you without ever telling me. I’m the victim here, and you’re lucky I’m not suing you for emotional distress.”

Tara froze, completely shocked by his response.

She assumed that even if she wasn’t Mom’s daughter, she was still his biological flesh and blood, meaning he would at least take responsibility for her.

She never expected Dad would be so desperate to shake her off.

Mom and I, however, were highly satisfied with his answer.

At least he knew his place.

Just then, the person sent to investigate returned. After a little financial persuasion, he managed to pry the entire truth out of Dad’s ex-girlfriend.

It turned out that years ago, the ex-girlfriend had been plotting every possible way to marry Dad.

While Dad hadn’t been nearly as wealthy as Mom, he had still been a decent middle-class business owner and a good-looking guy—otherwise, Mom never would have noticed him.

However, Dad’s family refused to let him marry his ex-girlfriend, claiming she was manipulative and unfit to be a wife.

Determined to force a marriage, the ex-girlfriend poked holes in their protection and got pregnant.

But right around that time, Dad’s family business suddenly went bankrupt. The ex-girlfriend immediately jumped ship and dumped him.

But due to medical reasons, she couldn’t get an abortion, so she carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth to the child.

Unable to raise the baby on her own, she dropped her off at an orphanage.

When she abandoned Tara, she left Dad’s personal belongings with her to avoid getting caught herself.

That way, if anyone pursued child abandonment charges, the blame would fall entirely on Dad.

She really was a manipulative piece of work.

Hearing the full story, Dad’s eyes welled up with tears of sheer relief. “My name is finally cleared! I told you I was innocent!”

A smile finally broke across Mom’s face. “Since you’re innocent, I won’t hold this against you. Clean up this mess with your surprise daughter and son-in-law. Iris and I are heading upstairs.”

Though Mom had threatened divorce moments ago, I knew she genuinely loved Dad.

If Tara had actually been proof of infidelity during their marriage, it would have truly broken Mom’s heart.

Just as Mom took my hand to head upstairs and explain everything that had happened back then, Tara suddenly called out to her. “Mrs. Morrison, wait!”

Mom stopped and looked back at her, completely puzzled. “What do you want with me? I have nothing to do with you.”

“I know,” Tara said urgently. “But Mrs. Morrison, a massive empire like yours needs someone qualified to manage it. Iris isn’t nearly as capable as I am.”

“My grades are exceptional, I’m a scholarship winner at my school, and I chose Management as my major. You can keep me here to help run your businesses. After all, I’m biologically related to your husband, so we’re basically family.”
