Indeed Is My Weapon, Silence Is My Shield Chapter 10

Robert and Derek were thrown out, and Isabel stood frozen in the corner, not daring to speak

After Margaret retreated to her room, Isabel tugged at my sleeve and whispered, “Elena…. what just happened?”

I told her everything.

Her jaw dropped. She stared at nothing, muttering, “So that’s why Derek was always pushing me to

pick fights with you… It all makes sense now.”

She grabbed my arm, frightened. “I’m so glad you came back. If you hadn’t… I don’t even want to

think about what would’ve happened to us.”

I nodded. With Robert and Derek’s track record, they’d have bled Margaret and Isabel dry once they

got their hands on the company.

After the gala, I was arranged to start at Shaw Industries, from the bottom, as Margaret wanted me

to learn the business from the ground up.

As for Robert, Margaret replaced him with an interim CEO within days.

On my way to work one morning, they got me.

Robert and Derek had bribed my driver. They took me to a remote, abandoned warehouse and

doused me with cold water.

I woke up to Derek’s hand slapping across my face. He grabbed my jaw, his eyes wild with rage. “Elena! Why did you have to come back?! You ruined everything!”

Robert was even worse, he tossed a knife to Derek. “Stop wasting time! Just kill her! With her out of the way, you’re the only heir left!”

I blinked. Had they really just erased Isabel from the picture?

I stared at them, incredulous. “Wait-you actually think if I die, Derek inherits everything?”

Derek squeezed my face harder, his voice ice-cold. “I’ve already called Margaret and Isabel here.

After you’re dead, they’re next. Dad and I’ll get the whole Shaw fortune.”

“We didn’t want it to come to this, but you left us no choice.”

He raised the knife and aimed for my heart.

I screamed, “WAIT!”

The shot echoed through the warehouse.

Derek hit the floor, his eyes wide with bitter refusal, like he couldn’t accept that this was how it

ended.

I sighed and looked at his body. “I told you to wait.”

Police swarmed the warehouse, cuffing Robert and cutting my bindings.

Robert’s eyes bulged. “How?! How did the cops get here so fast?!”

I tapped my smartwatch. “I told you guys, I’ve been beaten up my whole life. So I set this thing to auto-dial 911 if I lose consciousness. Guess you forgot to take it off me.”

They’d been too sloppy to remove my devices. The cops tracked my GPS straight to the warehouse

Robert was sentenced to life for attempted murder.

Margaret didn’t waste any time either. She sued Linda to recover all the marital funds he’d funneled to her, then filed for divorce.

With Robert’s clear misconduct, the divorce was granted on the first hearing.

When we walked out of the courthouse, Margaret pulled me and Isabel into a tight hug. “This time,” she whispered, “I finally saved you.”

Isabel and I exchanged a confused look, then hugged her back, patting her shoulders to comfort

her.

Margaret wiped her tears and took both our hands. “Come on. I reserved a table at the steakhouse.

Your other parents are meeting us there.”

Isabel and I looked at each other. “Okay, Mom.”

And from that day on, we lived well together.
