Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 06

Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 06

I had twisted my ankle yesterday, and it was still a little swollen.

When I sensed him moving closer, I said, “Don’t touch me.”

“Oh. Okay.”

He looked a little lost. After a moment, he stood. “I’ll go deal with the snake.”

Only after he left the bedroom did I let out a breath. I wanted to grab my phone and call my uncle, the folk exorcist.

Then I suddenly remembered that my suitcase and my phone were both in the living room.

A bad feeling rose in my mind.

One of my colleagues was also going abroad, and we had agreed that he would come pick me up around this time.

He was a male colleague, someone from my office, and we got along well.

Finn was possessive as hell.

No. He used to be possessive as hell.

Now he was guarding his food. He would definitely think someone was trying to steal his prey.

I had just started to get out of bed to get my phone when Finn stormed back in, radiating a cold, hard anger.

I had loved him so much before.

Back when I was working on the mission, I had even written a whole playbook on how to win him over.

When he was angry, he never acted angry.

Instead, his face would look perfectly composed, a faint smile touching the corners of his eyes as he subtly clenched his jaw.

That was when he was actually the angriest.

Then he would punish me regardless of whether it was day or night.

He would have possessive, punishing sex with me, leaving his marks and scent all over my body.

“Want to hear it?”

He waved my phone.

I was confused. “Hear what?”

He smiled and turned on the speaker.

“Professor Sullivan, I’m about to head over to your place.”

It was Julian Crane, a professor from the same college.

Finn walked over quietly and sat down beside me.

Julian continued on the other end. “You’re really getting divorced? That came out of nowhere. I thought you and your husband were very much in love.”

I wanted to answer.

Finn tapped his own lips, his gaze dropping to my mouth.

How infuriating that I, a piece of prey, understood the hunter so well.

He meant that if I dared to speak, he would kiss me until I could not breathe.

I glared at him and did not dare move.

Julian rambled on for a while.

It was all about how sorry he was that I was getting divorced, how someone as good as me deserved better.

I quietly reminded Finn, “What’s the problem? A colleague is just checking in.”

He said softly, “That fake-innocent act.”

Oh, wonderful. A supernatural being had somehow mastered human social subtext.

Julian was clearly being perfectly normal.

I spoke up. “Thank you for your concern, Professor Crane. I’m fine. I never drag things out when it comes to relationships—”

Before I could finish, he suddenly cut in. “Then may I pursue you?”

Finn raised an eyebrow.

I said nothing.

“Marina, you’re an exceptional woman, and I can’t help being drawn to you.

“But please don’t feel pressured. I only wanted you to know that there’s someone in this world who has been quietly admiring you.”

My face went stiff.

Julian seemed to let out a breath of relief.

“Before, you and your husband were so in love that I thought I’d never get the chance to say this in my lifetime. Luckily—”

Finn stared at me calmly, and the antique vase on the bookshelf suddenly exploded.

I knew it was because of Finn.

But he looked completely innocent and said, “It must have been old.”

Then he replied to Julian over the phone, “We are still very much in love.”

Because Professor Crane had heard something shatter, he sounded worried.

“Marina, I’m coming over.”

Finn looked as if this was exactly what he had been hoping for. He glanced up at me, the corner of his mouth curving.

“Sure.”

I snatched the phone from him.

“Professor Crane, I’m not divorced. My husband and I just had a small argument.

“Please don’t come pick me up.”

Then I hung up.

I knew Finn’s temper.

Julian had already suffered because of him once.
