I Saw The Comments And Chose My Dad Over The Doctor I Loved Chapter 09

The morning clinic ran like clockwork. Waylon remained entirely focused on his work, presenting a professional, rigorous, calm, and meticulous side that was a far cry from the gentle, indulgent way he treated me.

I sat quietly to the side watching him, occasionally helping him organize charts and log patient data. It felt peaceful, stable, and warm.

As lunch break approached, I headed out to the cafeteria to grab some food. Just as I stepped out of the outpatient building, I caught the sound of hushed, arguing voices coming from around the corridor corner.

It was Blakely and Elowen.

My footsteps paused. I instinctively slowed my movements, quietly listening to their exchange.

Blakely’s voice was full of resentment. “Elowen, you’re just too soft-hearted! Waylon is obviously supposed to like you, but Alessia forced her way in and bewitched him!”

Elowen’s voice was soft, carrying a hint of hesitation and sadness. “But… Waylon already has a girlfriend. I shouldn’t interfere.”

“Interfere? You grew up together, you’re childhood sweethearts, you were always meant to be a couple!” Blakely spoke urgently. “It’s all because Alessia took advantage of her dad being his mentor to get close to him first!”

Leaning against the wall, I listened quietly, my heart completely untroubled by their words.

Right and wrong were already perfectly clear.

The next instant, Blakely’s voice dropped significantly lower, carrying a hint of malice. “I heard Dr. Stanfield was found to have a blood clot last week. Even though he’s fine for now, his health is weak and can’t take much strain.”

“If something happens to Dr. Stanfield, Waylon won’t ever have to play nice for Alessia’s sake again. Maybe then he’ll turn around and come back to you.”

My entire body went rigid, a massive wave of icy terror instantly rising from the depths of my heart.

I could tolerate them envying me, gossiping about me, or slandering me, but they should never have targeted my dad.

My dad was my only weakness and the person I would risk everything to protect.

Hearing this, Elowen was clearly stunned, stammering out her reluctance, “That… isn’t right, isn’t it? If someone dies, the consequences would be impossible to handle.”

“Nothing major will happen!” Blakely immediately reassured her. “We’ll just cause a little trouble to make Dr. Stanfield feel unwell. It’ll leave Alessia completely overwhelmed so she has no time to cling to Waylon.”

“Once she and Waylon break up, everything will go back to the way it was supposed to be.”

Every single word was vicious and selfish.

Unable to listen for another second, I stepped out from around the corner, my eyes fixing onto the two of them with an icy glare. “What are you planning to do to my dad?”

The sudden voice made both of them freeze on the spot, their faces turning completely pale.

Blakely panicked for a second but quickly forced herself to look calm, doubling down to talk back. “Don’t talk nonsense! We didn’t say anything!”

“I heard everything perfectly clear.” I stepped closer, my gaze piercingly cold. “Blakely, if you dare touch a single hair on my dad’s head, I will make sure you regret it.”

Intimidated by my intensity, Blakely instinctively took a step back, speaking with forced bravado. “I didn’t say anything! You’re just imagining things!”

Elowen kept her eyes lowered, not saying a single word, implicitly consenting to the entire conversation.

The comments section instantly flashed frantic warnings across my vision.

[Oh no! Blakely is totally corrupted, she’s actually going to do it!]

[In the original plot, Alessia’s dad’s paralysis was an accident, but now it’s turned into a calculated plot!]

[The FL actually permitted this! Her morals are completely broken!]

[This is going to be massive trouble; the extra won’t be able to protect her dad]

Looking at the two girls standing in front of me, each harboring her own dark calculations, an absolute chill filled my chest.

It turned out the paralysis predicted by the comments wasn’t fate at all, but human malice.

In my past life, I was completely oblivious, allowing them to work in the shadows until my dad ended up paralyzed for life.

In this lifetime, I would never let that tragedy happen again.

I stared coldly at Blakely, my tone delivering a heavy warning. “Hospital surveillance is everywhere. You better mind your place. If you dare pull anything in secret, I will report you directly to the hospital director and have your internship revoked.”

Blakely’s expression changed completely, a mix of fear and rage, but she didn’t dare talk back again.

I stopped looking at them, turning around to walk away quickly.

The most critical task right now was to shield my dad tightly and eliminate every possible hidden danger.
