I Saw The Comments And Chose My Dad Over The Doctor I Loved Chapter 08

Waylon kept his grip on Blakely’s wrist until her face turned pale from the pain. Shamed and infuriated, her eyes instantly filled with tears.

Under the watchful eyes of all her colleagues, she lost every last bit of her dignity, her voice carrying a sob. “Waylon! Why are you defending her like this? I’m just standing up for Elowen—this isn’t fair to her!”

Standing to the side, Elowen kept her eyes lowered, appearing submissive, though a hint of calculation was hidden beneath her gaze.

She spoke up softly, seemingly trying to diffuse the situation, but actually adding fuel to the fire. “Blakely, stop it. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have blindly bothered Waylon last night. Miss Stanfield, please don’t misunderstand. Waylon and I are just friends.”

These words looked like a retreat, but they secretly validated the impression in everyone’s minds that I was petty, jealous, and hoarding Waylon.

The comments section went wild, steering the narrative with pure malice.

[The FL is so sensible! By comparison, Alessia is seriously aggressive!]

[The ML is blinded! The extra is too good at acting!]

[Please, just get back to the main plot already, stop putting the FL through all this suffering!]

Watching the two of them feed off each other, I found the whole display ridiculous.

Waylon released Blakely’s wrist and stepped in front to shield me behind his back, his posture unyielding as he stated his position clearly in front of everyone.

“Alessia and I share mutual feelings, and we are officially together. From this moment on, all my favoritism and accommodation belong only to her.”

“Elowen and I are just old neighbors and friends. What I did for her in the past was out of responsibility, and going forward, there will be boundaries. I hope everyone will stop spreading false rumors and trying to stir up trouble between us.”

Every word carried weight, direct and completely out in the open.

Without a shred of ambiguity or hesitation, he publicly severed any lingering rumors of a romance.

The office fell dead silent, everyone staring at Waylon and me in absolute shock.

Blakely’s entire body went rigid. She stared at Waylon in disbelief, completely breaking down.

“Waylon! Are you seriously going to ignore all the years of history you share with Elowen just for Alessia?”

“Boundaries and history never conflict,” Waylon replied flatly. “I will not let my girlfriend feel wronged for the sake of anyone else.”

The word “girlfriend” fell next to my ear with gentle strength, and a wave of warmth spread through my entire body.

Elowen’s fingers tightened slightly. A genuine flash of disappointment and resentment finally crossed her gentle features, though she still maintained her fragile demeanor.

“I understand,” she said. “I overstepped. From now on, I won’t bother you anymore.”

With that, she lowered her head slightly, turned, and quickly walked out of the office. Her figure looked especially forlorn.

Quite a few colleagues watched her leave with pitying expressions, and the looks they threw my way turned somewhat subtle.

But I didn’t care at all.

Other people’s opinions, groundless assumptions, and pre-determined plots couldn’t compare to Waylon’s open favoritism.

Fuming and frantic as Elowen left, Blakely shot me a venomous look and whispered through clenched teeth, “Don’t get too smug. This isn’t over.”

Then, she turned and stormed out of the office as well, clearly still plotting something else.

Once everyone had left, the office finally quieted down.

Waylon turned to look at me, reaching out to gently smooth the frown lines between my brows, his tone carrying a soft apology. “I’m sorry you had to go through that. I hate that you’re being gossiped about.”

I shook my head, looking up at him with a face full of smiles. “I don’t feel wronged at all. As long as you’re standing by my side, none of it matters.”

In the past, I was all alone, carrying the label of extra while carefully chasing after his shadow. Now, I was cherished, leaving me with no fear of any rumors or gossip.

The comments were still flashing frantically across my vision, but they could no longer affect my peace of mind.

[The main plot is completely destroyed! The ML just went public with his relationship with the extra!]

[Blakely is totally corrupted now, and the FL’s mental state is breaking down. They’re definitely going to cause massive trouble next!]

[No! The extra completely turned the tables and took over the FL’s script!]

Looking at the text floating by, I felt nothing but calm.

Who cared about scripts, and who cared about destiny?

The ending between Waylon and me would only ever be written by us.
