I Saw The Comments And Chose My Dad Over The Doctor I Loved Chapter 10

I didn’t make a scene about the conversation I had just overheard, choosing instead to keep it quietly to myself.

Without concrete evidence, throwing accusations around would only lead to pointless arguments and alert them ahead of time.

I had to stay calm and focus completely on keeping my dad safe.

The moment I walked back into the office, Waylon noticed my mood immediately, his eyes filling with concern. “What’s wrong? You look pale.”

I looked up at him, and seeing his genuine concern helped relax my tense nerves a bit.

I didn’t keep anything from him, quietly explaining everything I had heard around the corner.

“Blakely wants to do something to my dad. She’s planning to cause an accident to affect his health just to force me away from you.”

The second I finished speaking, the gentleness in Waylon’s eyes vanished, replaced by a heavy, dangerous coldness as the air around him dropped below freezing.

His fingers tightened slightly, his tone ice-cold. “She was completely out of line.”

He had never imagined that Blakely’s jealousy could twist into something so obsessive that she would actually dare to plot against a doctor.

The knot in my chest remained tight as I spoke softly, “I don’t care if they target me anymore, I’m just terrified they’ll hurt my dad. He just started getting better, and his body can’t handle any surprises.”

That was the thing I had feared most since being reborn.

Waylon stepped forward, pulling me gently into his arms with a steady, reassuring embrace that gave me all the strength I needed.

“Don’t be scared, I’m right here.” His low voice fell next to my ear, completely reliable and grounding. “I will personally oversee Dr. Stanfield’s medication, checkups, and daily care.”

“The hospital’s public areas are under constant surveillance, so they won’t dare pull anything out in the open. The second anything looks off, I’ll handle it immediately. I won’t let anyone hurt you, and I certainly won’t let anyone hurt your dad.”

Held tightly in his embrace, the anxiety and fear I had gathered all day completely melted away.

This was the true meaning of mutual devotion—I would risk everything to protect my family, and he would stand by me without a single hesitation.

Leaning against his chest, I nodded softly, my eyes growing warm. “Okay.”

After the lunch break, hospital routines continued as usual.

When Blakely and Elowen returned to the office, both looked uneasy, intentionally avoiding our eyes and remaining dead silent the entire time.

But I knew the calculations in their hearts hadn’t stopped; they were simply laying low, waiting for the right moment.

The comments were still pulsing across my vision, shifting from their initial chaotic panic to a tense, watchful curiosity.

[The plot has entirely gone off the rails. Blakely is building up her dark arc, so a massive storm is definitely coming.]

[The main storyline is totally ruined. Is the extra’s counterattack officially set in stone now?]

[Can’t wait to see what happens next! I want to see the ML protect his girl and shut down the villains!]

I stopped paying attention to what the comments were saying.

The so-called script of destiny was nothing more than a past that had never been challenged.

Now that I was self-aware and his devotion was unwavering, I had already broken free from the fate of being mere extra.

As the shift ended in the evening, the sunset filtered through the glass windows, filling the office with a warm glow.

After putting his things away, Waylon reached for my hand as if it were the most natural thing in the world. His gaze was gentle, his expression full of warmth.

“I’ll drive you and your dad home. I want to talk to him about his upcoming follow-up care plan anyway.”

I looked up at him, my eyes filled with absolute happiness and a bright smile.

There might still be challenges, schemes, and countless unknown trials waiting for us on the road ahead.

But I would never feel scared or lost again.

Because I knew now that from this day forward, I was never alone.

I had the one I loved by my side. I had my family with me. And I had the strength to stand up against any malice that came our way.

The comments couldn’t dictate my life, and someone else’s plots couldn’t destroy my happiness.

The ending was something only Waylon and I would write ourselves.
