I Saw The Comments And Chose My Dad Over The Doctor I Loved Chapter 04

I hadn’t even fully processed the comment saying the plot was completely messed up before Waylon’s commanding voice echoed through the receiver again.

My heart instantly lost its rhythm.

Biting my reddened lip, my voice still thick with unshed tears, I gave him a cold refusal. “It’s too late. I’m not coming down.”

I didn’t want to make a fool of myself anymore.

The comments said I was just an extra, that all his gentleness was only out of respect for my dad, and that his heart and soul belonged entirely to Elowen.

I shouldn’t keep throwing myself at him and making myself a nuisance.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, the sound of the wind rushing through the background.

The next second, Waylon’s voice came through again, clear and absolute. “I’m outside your house.”

I bolted upright in bed, my bare feet hitting the cool floor as I rushed to the window and pulled back a corner of the curtain.

Through the dark night, his tall figure was strikingly visible. Dressed in a simple black hoodie, he stood straight under a streetlight with one hand in his pocket, his eyes shadowed by the glare, masking his emotions.

The comments, which had been quiet for a while, suddenly began to scroll frantically again.

[What’s going on? Isn’t the ML supposed to watch a couple’s movie with the FL tonight? Why did he run over to the extra’s place?]

[The plot broke down! It completely broke down! Tonight was supposed to be the key turning point for the ML and FL to get closer!]

[Don’t mess this up, ML! Don’t let the extra distract you! She’s just a random extra!]

[Oh my god, Waylon, wake up! Elowen is your true love!]

The dense layers of comments made my head spin, but a tiny spark of defiance suddenly flared up in my chest.

I bit my lip, threw on a jacket without thinking, and hurried downstairs with my phone tightly in my grip.

The night wind outside was cold, blowing my hair into a messy tangle. When Waylon saw me, he stepped forward to meet me, his heavy gaze locking onto my face.

He was much taller than me. Standing right in front of me, he carried a natural sense of pressure that was completely different from his usual gentle, patient self.

“Finish what you were going to say earlier in the office,” he said, his tone carrying a stubborn edge.

I instinctively took a half-step back to put some distance between us, my eyes intentionally distant.

“There’s nothing to say.”

What would be the point of saying it? I would have only made a fool of myself and pushed him to find me even more annoying.

Waylon’s brow furrowed slightly. He reached out and precisely caught my wrist, his grip not painful but unyielding, leaving no room for me to pull away. “Alessia, you’re being very strange today.”

His gaze was entirely too sharp, as if he could see right through my forced calmness.

A wave of sourness hit my nose. Forcing back the hot tears in my eyes, I turned my head away to avoid his look, keeping my voice deliberately detached.

“I just don’t want to make a fool of myself anymore, Dr. Marsh. I won’t go to the hospital to bother you every day anymore, and I won’t bring you meals or cling to you.”

The moment those words left my mouth, I clearly saw Waylon’s pupils contract. A flash of utter shock crossed his eyes, immediately followed by deep irritation.

“Bother me?” he repeated quietly, his voice carrying a trace of suppressed frustration. “You think your presence is a bother to me?”

His question left me choked up, the tightness in my throat making it impossible to utter a word.

All the gentleness, patience, and accommodation I had treasured over the past year were completely fake according to the comments.

It was all out of respect for my dad, a necessary courtesy, a way to keep things polite for an extra.

Seeing my silence, Waylon gently tightened his grip on my wrist, drawing me slightly closer to him.

The night wind swept through his hair, and his low voice fell clearly next to my ear. “Back in the office today, who were those flowers actually meant for?”

My heart shuddered violently, and I almost completely lost control of my emotions.

Just as I was panicking, a sharp female voice suddenly rang out from not far away.

“Waylon! What are you doing here?”

I turned around to see Blakely standing a short distance away holding a coffee, staring at our connected wrists in complete disbelief, her eyes filled with jealousy and anger.

She rushed over, reaching out to force Waylon’s hand away with blunt arrogance.

“Alessia, have you no shame? You played the victim to trick everyone during the day, and now you’re secretly clinging to Waylon at night! You explicitly said those flowers were for your dad!”

The sudden pull made me stumble a bit, and a wave of anger instantly flared up inside me.

We had been at each other’s throats for a year. Now that I was walking away, she still refused to let it go.

I yanked my hand out of her grip, my tone ice-cold. “I’m talking to Dr. Marsh. It’s none of your business.”

Blakely froze at my sharp retort, her anger intensifying. Her eyes turned red as she looked at Waylon, putting on a wronged expression.

“Waylon, look at her! She’s intentionally harassing you! Don’t let her trick you, she hasn’t given up on you at all!”

Waylon remained completely calm throughout the entire exchange. He didn’t look at Blakely even once, keeping his eyes firmly fixed on me, his hand never releasing my wrist.

He spoke quietly, his tone carrying an unquestionable bias. “Whatever is going on between Alessia and me has nothing to do with you, Blakely. It’s late. Go home.”

Blakely’s face went completely pale. She stared at Waylon in disbelief, her eyes swimming with resentment and hurt.

The comments was completely falling apart now, flashing by at a breakneck speed.

[This is ridiculous! Why is the ML protecting the extra? This isn’t how the story goes!]

[Isn’t the ML supposed to be cold to the extra?]

[The plot has entirely gone off the rails. The ML and FL’s date must be completely ruined by now!]

Watching the chaotic scene play out in front of me, the confusion in my heart grew deeper and deeper.

Maybe the so-called plot wasn’t entirely real after all.
