My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 08

My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 08

That was when the jealousy took over completely.

After that, everything Grace did, every thoughtful word she said, every careful plan she made, it all felt

like a taunt.

The more he loved her, the more it hurt. The more it hurt, the more he hated it.

And Vanessa was right there, feeding the fire. Telling him stories about Grace and Julian. Planting the

poison.

“Don’t you think it’s unfair?”

“She was never going to pick you first. You’re just the backup.”

“If it were me, I’d make her pay.”

And then she sent the photo. A mirror selfie in a lace bra, the caption something he knew better than to

engage with.

Ethan did something he knew was stupid. He went.

When he came home, he still remembered to pick up Grace’s favorite cake. The therapist had said

sweets helped with her mood.

But watching her smile while she ate it, all he felt was resentment.

Why was he the only one in pain?

So on the day they got their marriage license, he blew it all up.

The memory made him slam the brakes.

He was already at the hospital, Grace in his arms, rushing toward the emergency doors.

Revealing everything like that was the worst mistake he’d ever made.

If he’d known it would cost her, he would have carried the pain forever.

The thought made his chest feel like it was being torn apart.

They took Grace into surgery. Ethan stayed outside, on his knees, praying for her to live.

Grace’s therapist happened to be there. When she saw Ethan, she knew something was wrong.

“Mr. Cole, what happened?”

His eyes were red. He couldn’t find words.

“Grace… she jumped.”

The therapist pushed past him and ran into the OR.

“How is she?”

The surgeon shook his head. “Physically, she’ll make it. But she’s not fighting. If that doesn’t change…”

The therapist leaned close to Grace’s ear. “Grace. Remember when you asked me how you could actually get better? You said you didn’t want to be a burden to Ethan anymore. I didn’t have an answer for you then. I do now.”

“You have to stop depending on someone else to hold you up. You’re your own way out.”

“I don’t know what happened to you tonight. But death isn’t freedom. It’s just running.”

“Live. And whoever hurt you, you make them answer for it. If you lose, you try again. As long as you’re breathing, you still have a chance.”

“Be your own savior. Be your own light.”

The monitor flatlined for a second, then jumped back to life.

On the operating table, Grace’s eyelids fluttered.
