My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 01

My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 01

On the way back from getting their marriage license, Ethan Cole spoke up out of nowhere.

“I cheated.”

He tilted his head toward the passenger seat I was sitting in and smiled, slow and cruel. “She was in that seat yesterday, all over me. Wearing something pretty fucking hot. I couldn’t help myself. We hooked up.”

Betrayed for the second time.

I sat there frozen, the pain so sharp I couldn’t make a sound.

Ethan, though, seemed to be savoring the memory. “Now I get what Julian saw in her. Vanessa’s way more of a woman than you’ll ever be.”

Julian Peterson was my ex-husband. Vanessa used to be my best friend.

Five years ago, I caught them together in bed.

I was at rock bottom when Ethan came along and pulled me out.

And now he’d betrayed me with the same woman.

It felt like someone had their hand wrapped around my throat.

It took me a long moment before I could even find my voice. “Why?”

Why cheat and still go through with getting married?

Why tell me the truth at what should have been the happiest moment of my life?

Ethan blinked.

Then he let out a loud laugh. “You win.”

I stared at him in confusion.

The next second, a familiar voice came through the car speakers.

The speakers crackled. “So tonight, you’re using my favorite, right? Strawberry.”

My eyes went wide.

I felt the blood freeze in my veins.

Ethan leaned back, watching me. “Vanessa and I had a bet. I said when you found out I cheated, you’d slap me. She said you’d ask why.”

He raised an eyebrow. “I win, she wears the stockings. She wins…” He let it hang. “Guess you heard.”

The speakers crackled again with Vanessa’s voice. “Grace. Five years and you’re still the same spineless pushover you always were. Gotta give you credit, though, you still know how to pick ’em. I’m liking this one too.”

Her mocking laugh made my whole body go numb.

For a moment, I was back five years ago.

I’d come home early from a work trip, thinking I’d surprise Julian for his birthday.

Walked in and found him with Vanessa by the window.

When he saw me, Julian froze, panicked.

Vanessa just lit a cigarette, all smug. “Sorry, Grace. Got a little lonely. Had a dry spell. Borrowed your husband.”

And just like now, all I could do was stand there crying, asking her, asking him, “Why?”

Their mouths were moving, saying something, but it was like someone had stuffed cotton in my ears, I couldn’t hear a word.

Not until they both went pale and started shouting.

That’s when the pain hit my stomach. I doubled over, looked down, and saw the blood.

That day, I lost three people who meant everything to me.

My best friend of ten years. My husband of one year. And the three-month-old baby I was carrying.
