My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 02

My Husband’s Mistress Is My Sister Chapter 02

“All right, I know you miss me. See you tonight. I’m taking Grace home first.”

Ethan’s voice pulled me back to the present.

He ended the call, and the car went quiet except for the two of us breathing.

After a moment, he spoke again. “You must be hungry. Let’s grab your favorite cake first, then I’ll take you home.”

His voice was gentle.

Like none of what just happened had happened.

It only made me feel like more of a joke, teary-eyed, shaking, pathetic.

“Ethan, why are you doing this?” My voice came out hoarse. “You promised you’d take care of me for the rest of my life.”

The tears spilled over, but this time, he didn’t reach out to wipe them away like he always used to.

He leaned back in his seat, a half smile on his face. “Look, Grace, if you’d picked me the first time, yeah, I probably would’ve treated you right forever. But now? You’re damaged goods. Why should I stay faithful?”

He handed me a tissue, like he was doing me a favor.

I jerked back, staring at him like he was a stranger.

We all went to college together.

Back then, both he and Julian asked me out at the same time.

I chose Julian.

Ethan was gracious about it. And after I got married, I kept my distance.

Then Julian cheated.

I fell apart. Tried to kill myself.

And Ethan showed up out of nowhere, like some kind of savior.

He put me back together. Pulled me out of the dark.

Thinking about everything he’d done for me, I asked, my voice shaking, “If it bothered you that much, why did you even pursue me? Why get together with me at all?”

He met my eyes and let out a long breath. “I thought it didn’t matter. But when we started planning the wedding…”

He let out a bitter laugh. “You were too good at it. Haggling with the photographer. Grabbing a fake ring so we wouldn’t lose the real one at the reception. Even today, you just knew what to wear. Didn’t have to check anything.”

His expression darkened as he went on.

“Everything you did just kept reminding me that I was marrying someone who’d done it all before. And I couldn’t stand it.”

My eyes blurred with tears.

If I couldn’t see him clearly, I could at least hear him.

“But I love you,” he said. “So you were with Julian for a year. I get a year to mess around, then I’ll settle down. Seems fair, doesn’t it?”

I felt warmth on my face.

I blinked hard, and a tear landed on Ethan’s hand.

He pulled back like he’d been burned.

“No!” I shouted. “If it bothered you, you should’ve said something. Not saved me just so you could betray me later!”

“Ethan, I want a divorce!”

The words ripped out of me like they were tearing my soul apart.

He just watched me coldly, waiting until I’d burned myself out before he finally spoke. “We’re already married. Fair isn’t really your call anymore.”

“Divorce? Don’t even think about it. Deal with it if you can. If you can’t, learn to.”

With that, he reached over, pushed open my door, and gave me a shove.

“Right now, you’re making me pretty unhappy. Go think about your attitude.”
