I took Sienna to the hospital.

Gavin paced anxiously in the hallway.

“I barely used any force. How did it turn into this?”

After a long while, he finally stopped and looked at me.

“After you left, Mother treated me like that. Did she always treat you that way? ”

“Enough times.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Would it have made a difference?”

Gavin fell silent.

After another long pause, he said, “Nora, I’m sorry.”

I felt nothing.

“I stopped needing that a long time ago.”

Just then, the doctor came out.

” She needs to rest and take it easy.”

I looked at Gavin.

“If I remember correctly, in the previous timeline you bought her a condo so she could recover. Where was it?”

Gavin’s voice was subdued.

“I’ll take care of it.”

I said nothing.

When Sienna came out, I looked coldly at Gavin.

“Nora Bennett, apologize to Ms. Blake.”

Gavin stared at me in disbelief.

“You know I didn’t do it on purpose. I’d never hurt Sienna!”

I gave a cold laugh.

“If you didn’t do it, are you saying Sienna hurt herself on purpose?”

Gavin had no answer.

In the previous timeline, I’d spent an entire night explaining myself until I’d nearly cried myself dry.

And that single accusation from Gavin was all I’d gotten in return.

He glared at me.

“Don’t push this too far!”

I almost laughed.

“You were the one who said people should apologize when they do something wrong. Now I’m going too far?”

Sienna tugged lightly at my arm.

“Forget it, Mr. Whitmore. I’m not worth it.”

I stepped closer and looked at Gavin’s stubborn face.

Then I stopped him.

“Nora Bennett, everything you have came from the Whitmore family. From me. So put away that cheap pride of yours.”

Those were Gavin’s words too.

He’d been right. Without him, I’d been worth nothing.

But now he was the powerless one.

I looked at him coldly.

“You always said people should apologize when they’re wrong. So apologize.”

For once, Gavin had no way to argue.

I never once looked at Gavin, whose face had gone gray.

When it was over, I had the driver take Sienna home.

Instead, I went to Westbridge University Medical Center.

Grandma was sleeping peacefully in a hospital bed.

I covered my mouth to keep myself from sobbing.

My parents were gone after an accident not long after I was born.

Grandma had raised me all by herself.

In the previous timeline, Gavin had frozen my access to our joint accounts and canceled my cards just to punish me for upsetting Sienna, and Grandma had missed her surgery because of it.

After losing Grandma, I felt as though I’d lost everything.

That was how our previous lives had ended.

This time, thankfully, there was still time.

I didn’t want to risk another delay, so I immediately paid the required hospital deposit in advance.

The doctor told me Grandma was doing well and her surgery could go ahead as scheduled in a month.

It was already past midnight when I got home.

Gavin had left the place in chaos.

The moment he saw me, he rushed over, visibly agitated.

“Nora Bennett, have you lost your mind?”

“Just because you’re in my body now doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want!”

“We need to figure out how to switch back right now. If we do, I’ll let everything you’ve done so far go!”

I reached out and gently touched him.

“Don’t get so worked up. It’s not good for the child.”

Gavin froze.

“You’re… expecting a child?”

At the thought of that child, a smile tugged at my lips despite myself.

“Yes. ”

Gavin grabbed my hand.

“Why didn’t you tell me before?”

The memory hit me all over again.

“I called you twenty-eight times. You didn’t answer once.”

“Sienna told me she wanted lemon pastries from Southgate, so you went to get them for her. The round trip took three hours.”

“During those three hours, Sienna put me through something I never recovered from. By the time it was over, our child was gone.”
