Adrian’s heart was dead.

That cruel woman.

The cruel woman who’d dumped him two years ago.

The script in his head had gone like this:

Seven glasses in, and his texts started crossing ethical lines.

[I’ll come up through the fire stairs. No one will know.]

[Perfect plan, right?]

She sent back a row of dots.

The bad woman didn’t want him.

She wouldn’t even keep him as a side piece.

Adrian was just about ready to drink himself to death when he tossed back another glass.

Then out of the corner of his eye, he saw a familiar figure.

Wasn’t that Judy’s husband across the street?

And who was the woman holding onto his arm?

He rubbed his eyes to make sure it wasn’t the alcohol.

Nope.

Judy’s husband really was standing there with his arm around another woman.

His heart started pounding.

He couldn’t even tell whether it was excitement or joy.

Maybe he wasn’t supposed to be this happy about someone else getting cheated on.

But the someone else was Judy.

He was thrilled.

He yanked out his phone and snapped pictures like crazy.

Then he followed them while calling Judy.
