When He Learned I Was Abused, My CEO Ex Lost It! Chapter 02

When He Learned I Was Abused, My CEO Ex Lost It! Chapter 02

Adrian dragged me across the whole office floor without looking at anybody else.

He walked so fast I practically had to jog.

“Boss, can’t we talk about this outside?”

“No.”

“Then let me ask first. If there’s workplace harassment in this company, can employees call the police?”

“Try it.”

Me: “…”

Yep.

Still him.

Still that temper.

He slammed the office door shut behind us.

Then he pinned me right against it.

One hand braced beside my ear.

The other grabbed my chin and forced me to look up at him.

He was way too close.

I could smell the cool cedar scent on him.

Smelled nice.

Too bad the man wearing it was so annoying.

“Judy.”

He stared at me, voice low, the corners of his eyes slowly turning red.

“We’ve only been broken up for two years. How did you rush this fast into hell?”

I blinked.

“Mr. Kane, watch your wording.”

“I’m a married woman now.”

He laughed, but there was no humor in it.

“Married?”

“You really have the nerve to say that.”

“When you were with me, didn’t you keep saying you were never getting married in this lifetime?”

“Yeah.” I nodded like I meant it. “Then I met true love.”

His eyes turned colder.

“True love hits you?”

Me: “…”

Of course that was the one part he couldn’t let go.

So I dropped my gaze and put on my best tragic-wife face.

“He hits me when he hits me, but when he doesn’t, he’s pretty good to me.”

That sentence hit him like a punch to the chest.

He let go of me and stepped back half a pace, breathing hard, silent for a long time.

I leaned against the door and secretly watched him.

He looked exactly like one of those rich guys who’d just found out his ex had married a complete monster and now wanted to kill somebody but still had to pretend he was civilized.

Honestly?

A little pitiful.

A little funny too.

“When did you learn to cook?”

he asked suddenly, voice rough and low.

“You used to almost burn the kitchen down trying to fry an egg.”

“And didn’t you once say men only slowed you down when it came to checking out hot guys?”

“With that piece of trash, you not only got married, you even had a kid who’s already a year and a half old?”

By the end of that, I almost lost it.

How was he still acting like some wronged ex-husband?

“Mr. Kane.”

I looked up at him with the most sincere face I could manage.

“First, you are emotionally interrogating a married woman.”

“Second, I already have a family, so this really isn’t appropriate.”

“And third…”

I paused on purpose, then smiled at him.

“My husband may have a bad temper, but he’s great in bed.”

“He makes my legs shake and leaves my whole body numb.”

The air froze.

Adrian went completely still.

Those stupidly pretty eyes of his locked onto me like he genuinely couldn’t process what I’d just said.

I blinked and kept going.

“Really. I’m not lying.”

“My husband’s length is longer than your forearm.”

His breathing went off instantly.

“Judy.”

“Try saying one more word of that crap.”

“What crap?” I widened my eyes innocently. “You asked about my married life. I’m answering honestly.”

“Besides, aren’t these normal adult topics?”

He looked like the veins at his temple were about to burst.

Clearly, he wanted to strangle me.

He just didn’t dare touch me.

Probably because he was afraid if I got one more injury, he’d actually lose his mind.

“How exactly does he hit you?”

he asked suddenly, voice low and heavy.

Heavy enough that I almost felt guilty for a second.

I turned my face aside and cleared my throat.

“Depends.”

“Sometimes he gets mad if I come home late.”

“Sometimes he gets mad if the food doesn’t taste good.”

“Sometimes he gets in the mood in bed and slaps me a couple times.”

“But between husband and wife, stuff like that is normal—”

“Normal my ass!”

Adrian finally snapped.

He slammed his fist against the door beside my head, eyes red.

“Judy, are you insane?”

“He beats you like this and you still defend him?”

“You used to slap me if I looked at another woman for one extra second, and now you’re telling me you can put up with this?”

I looked at him and suddenly wanted to laugh.

Really.

He was already a CEO now, and somehow my existence still made his brain short-circuit.

So I lowered my eyes and made my tone softer.

Lighter.

More annoying.

“That’s different.”

“Back then, I hit you because you hadn’t slept with me yet.”

“Now he hits me because he already has.”

Adrian: “…”

Perfect.

Completely blown up.

He stood there in front of me, face dark as a storm, while his ears turned red all the way down his neck.

I almost laughed myself to death.

“You—”

He glared at me through gritted teeth and held it in for half a day before forcing out one line.

“That mouth of yours should be sewn shut.”

I nodded seriously.

“It really does talk a lot.”

“So now do you want to hit my husband even more?”

He stared at me, dangerous and cold.

“It’s not that I want to.”

“I want to drag him out of your house right now, throw him on the ground, and beat the hell out of him.”

I went quiet for two seconds.

Please don’t.

I didn’t have a husband for him to beat up.

“Mr. Kane.”

I curved my lips a little.

“It’s already time to get off work.”

“I need to go home and cook.”

“How about this? Calm down first, and when the time is right, I’ll send you his address so you two can settle it one-on-one.”

His chest kept rising and falling with anger.

“Judy.”

“I hate you.”

“Feel free.” I reached for the doorknob. “Just don’t dock my pay.”

“Goodbye, Mr. Kane.”

I closed the door softly behind me.

Didn’t look back once.

That stare burning into my back didn’t disappear until I got into the elevator.

I looked at myself in the mirrored doors.

Went quiet for a couple seconds.

Then I started laughing.

Good news.

My ex believed me.

Bad news.

He believed way too much.
