Two Years of Marriage, I Never Got My Wedding Ring Chapter 19

The video continued.

At four in the afternoon, the groomsmen came in, ready to get him drunk.

Alessio frowned, refusing several glasses.

But then a few Ricci elders arrived, reminding him that it was a happy occasion and that he shouldn’t spoil the mood.

He drank more and more.

At five-thirty, Sofia came back, this time with the dark blue box.

She sat down beside Alessio and said his name softly.

“Alessio.”

His eyes were closed. He didn’t respond.

Sofia looked down at him for a moment, then slipped the real wedding ring onto her own finger.

She held up her hand, smiling at a bridesmaid who was just off-camera.

“Does it look good?”

Someone whispered, “Sofia, are you crazy? That’s the bride’s ring.”

Sofia glanced at the unconscious Alessio.

“He won’t know.”

When those three words appeared on the screen, my fingers went cold.

She had known all along.

She knew the ring wasn’t hers.

She knew I was the one who was supposed to receive it.

And she knew Alessio would never find out.

In the video, Alessio was slumped against the sofa, too drunk to open his eyes.

Sofia leaned in and whispered in his ear:

“If I were the bride today, would you be happier?”

Alessio frowned, as if disturbed by the noise, and mumbled something.

The restored subtitles appeared on the screen.

“Stop messing around.”

But Sofia just smiled.

She turned to the bridesmaid and said, “Did you hear that?”

Later, that story would be twisted into something else entirely.

As if Alessio had really said he wished Sofia was the bride.
