Two Years of Marriage, I Never Got My Wedding Ring Chapter 18

Early the next morning, before I even made it to the office, Leo sent me a file.

The subject line was simple.

[Wedding Backstage Restoration]

I tapped it open, my finger hovering over the screen for a second.

This video was much more complete than the one from last night.

It began around noon on the day of the wedding.

Alessio wasn’t drunk yet.

He was sitting in the lounge in a white shirt, head bent as he signed a last-minute project document.

Sofia pushed the door open and came in, holding two ring boxes.

She placed the black box on the table and tucked the dark blue one into her handbag.

Alessio didn’t look up.

“The rings are here?”

Sofia smiled. “Yes. I brought them for you.”

Alessio reached for the box.

But Sofia pushed the document in front of him instead.

“Sign this first. The officiant is starting to rush us.”

Alessio frowned and took the pen.

The moment he looked down to sign, Sofia turned her back to him and opened the black box.

I watched as she palmed the real wedding ring.

Her movements were deft, almost invisible without the slowed-down footage.

Then she placed the replica ring into the black box.

By the time Alessio finished signing, Sofia had already closed the box and pushed it toward him.

“All set.”

Alessio picked up the box but didn’t open it.

He must have been too busy that day.

Too busy to even glance at the ring he was about to put on his bride’s finger.
