Twenty-Four Hours Later, My Betraying Alpha Crumbles Chapter 03

Twenty-Four Hours Later, My Betraying Alpha Crumbles Chapter 03

I dragged my injured, useless right leg back to the dorm, stumbling forward with every step.

I collapsed onto my bed and pulled out my phone.

My screen flared to life, and a forum alert from Moonrise Academy blazed harshly before my eyes.

[By the Moon Goddess! Beautiful Beta Jessica Confesses to Silvermoon Pack’s Alpha Gavin!]

I tapped it open.

The pinned photo was taken under that dim yellow streetlamp outside the girls’ dorm building.

Jessica stood on her tiptoes, her face tilted up.

And Gavin—the same Gavin who said he had pack business to handle—was bending down to kiss her.

His hand was still cupped behind her head.

Jessica hadn’t lied to me.

“When he kisses you, his lips burn hot.”

He never went back to handle pack business at all. He just walked her to her dorm.

Then he gave her the kiss I had waited years for but never received.

So it wasn’t that he couldn’t focus. It wasn’t that he was afraid of messing things up.

He just never wanted to be with me.

After my accident, he never once came to see me at the pack healer’s clinic after my crash.

But Jessica’s building, Dorm Seven? He passed by it every single day.

I started to wonder if all those desperate, heartfelt words in my diary had just been illusions I created all by myself.

Was Gavin even worth loving?

Comments flooded the post: [Everyone saw what happened on the field tonight, right? Some people need to look in the mirror.]

[An Alpha and a Beta. That’s what a real match looks like.]

[Compared to that clingy Omega, Jessica’s total ideal girlfriend material.]

[What does that make Savannah? A homewrecker?]

[She’s not even a homewrecker—just a sad, clingy lapdog with zero self-respect, that Omega pup.]

[No way… Gavin never even said yes, and she still chases him? That’s not love. That’s just having no shame.]

I scrolled down and saw a comment tagging Gavin.

[Wanna place a bet, Gavin? Think your clingy Omega pup will still camp out by your locker with breakfast tomorrow?]

Gavin’s official account replied with a single emoji—a weary eye-roll.

To him, I was just a clingy Omega pup who could never take a hint.

He wouldn’t even walk next to me in public. But he walked Jessica all the way to her dorm.

And all I got was a tired, dismissive emoji.

I turned off the screen and put my phone face-down on the bed.

Tears fell silently. The wolf inside me let out a mournful whine.

Betrayal by the person you love most is the most painful thing of all.

My phone buzzed. A voice message from Gavin.

“You holding up alright? That knee still throbbing bad?”

Another one came right after. His voice was hoarse.

“Quit your petty tantrums. Once I finish up pack business this weekend, I’ll take you to the healer to get your meniscus checked. Don’t go running off.”

He had just kissed Jessica. And now he was texting me.

I stared at the words on my screen, my stomach lurched in revulsion.

He had just used the same lips that touched Jessica to calm down his “Omega dog.”

Disgusted, I put the phone down and rolled up my pant leg.

An ugly scar stretched across my right knee.

I recalled my coach staring at my ruined leg last week, heaving a deep, weary sigh.

“Savannah, with your condition, you can’t continue track training.”

“I put in a transfer request for you. Go to the Rehabilitation Program at South Campus. A change of scenery, a brand-new start.”

I was heartbroken then. But I told myself saving Gavin made it all worth it.

Now I saw just how foolish and delusional I’d been.

I picked up my phone and texted my coach back.

[I accept the transfer.]

I opened a folder on my phone labeled “NEVER DELETE.”

Inside was a memo and a video.

I recorded it the day I was diagnosed with twenty-four-hour memory loss.

I took a deep breath and played the video.
