To Get Revenge on My Bully I Decided to Seduce Her Fiancé Chapter 07

Being with Harrison was happier than I’d ever expected.

Some of our “shared interests” I’d stolen from his old college blog.

But some of them? I actually liked them too.

We clicked on almost everything—similar enough to feel easy, different enough to never be boring.

We went skiing in the Alps, holding each other at the foot of the mountains.

We rode hot air balloons over Tanzania, kissing under the pink sunset.

I even actually grew to love fishing.

He took time off work and we went deep-sea tuna fishing together.

When I hooked one and couldn’t reel it in alone, he helped me.

We stumbled and fell in a heap, thumping our thighs in mock frustration at the giant fish that got away before dissolving into laughter.

At night, we’d go grocery shopping hand in hand.

It surprised me—for a guy who looked like he’d never had to lift a finger around the house growing up, he was an amazing cook.

“Try my famous paella. It’s my specialty.”

Harrison was in the gray sweatpants I’d bought him.

He pulled off his oven mitt with a grin, then knelt down to peel cooked shrimp for Lucky.

“So you won’t eat unless someone hand-feeds you, huh? Never saw you being this high-maintenance when you were a stray.”

Lucky rubbed his head against Harrison’s hand, tail high.

He couldn’t hold back a smile, dark strands falling over his sharp, fair forehead, his whole face soft with warmth.

Warm amber light draped over him and the cat, and for a second I just stood there, completely fixed.

That night, after Harrison fell asleep, I didn’t sneak into his study.

Harrison trusted me completely. All his important work files were at home.

I knew his computer password.

For weeks, I’d been digging for dirt on the Covingtonts.

After years of business together, I knew he must have something on them.

And I was right.

I’d already found leads on their tax evasion and money laundering via shell companies, even leads that they were moving illegal assets overseas.

I just didn’t have the final evidence yet.

But tonight, I hesitated.

Harrison was good to me.

The Sterlings and Covingtones were tied together tight.

If I took the Covingtones down, the Sterlings would take a hit too.

I was hesitating.

I’d always told myself I was just using him.

That none of this was real.

But after all this time… I couldn’t tell if my feelings were an act anymore.

He was good to me.

He was genuine through and through with his love.

Once he knew how he felt, he didn’t drag his feet or keep me hanging for the sake of the business deal.

He ended things with Sloane. He defended me right to her face.

Falling for him was easy. Too easy.

And I knew—if I went after the Covingtones, we’d be over.

Harrison was too proud.

He’d never forgive me for lying to him.

But could I really just stand by and let Sloane live a perfect, easy life for the rest of her days?

Even without Harrison, she’d still have her family’s money.

She’d never suffer.

I stared up at the ceiling, awake all night.

When the first light of dawn seeped through the curtains, I squinted.

Harrison stirred beside me, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind, his voice thick and soft with sleep.

“Morning, baby.”

He pet Lucky, who was curled up on his pillow.

“Morning to you too.”

Lucky let out a huge yawn, stretching his whole body long and splaying his paws wide.

I was quiet for a long time, then I said,

“Harrison. What’s the one thing you could never stand in a relationship?”

He didn’t want to get up yet.

Eyes still closed, voice rough with sleep,

“Never forgive?”

“Probably lying to me.”
