A flicker of panic crossed Vivienne’s face. But she was used to pressure, and within seconds she had herself under control.

“Mrs. Mercer and I were only business partners. I was never the other man. Stop making false accusations, or I’ll sue every one of you.”

They had barely finished speaking.

The comments kept pouring in online. At the press conference, reporters packed the foot of the stage, desperate to get the first shot and the first quote.

Vivienne had completely lost her composure. She backed away, shaking from head to toe.

A few people in the crowd grabbed bottles and bricks and started hurling them at her. When one came flying straight at Vivienne, my son rushed in front of her.

“This had nothing to do with my mom! Nolan did this because he wanted Dad out of the way so he could take his place. Mom and I are innocent!”

Vivienne caught on immediately and backed him up.

“That’s right. Nolan did this. I had nothing to do with it. I never took part, and I didn’t know anything about it.

“He was the one who wanted Julian’s place in the industry. Nolan hired those men to throw my husband into the dogfighting ring and ruin his face.”

Nolan stared at her. He had never imagined that Vivienne, the woman who had once claimed to love him, would throw him under the bus this fast. He turned on her in disbelief.

“That’s complete bullsh*t! You were the one who wanted to divorce Julian. Now you’re trying to dump all of this on me?”

Vivienne screamed right back.

“If you hadn’t seduced me and pushed me to leave Julian, would any of this have happened? You climbed into my bed because you wanted roles and connections. You knew I was married and came after me anyway.”

Nolan’s face went from pale to scarlet.

The reporters went wild with their cameras. Under the barrage of flashes, Nolan finally panicked and shouted over Vivienne.

“I never seduced you! You’re the one who said it was love at first sight and wouldn’t leave me alone. I had no money, no connections, no way to fight you. I had no choice but to go along with it.

“Otherwise, why would someone my age ever be interested in an old woman like you? For God’s sake, I’m barely older than your own son!”

That hit a nerve. Vivienne flew into a rage and slapped Nolan across the face.

Nolan hit her back without hesitation.

The two of them went at each other right there onstage. My son tried to pull one away, then the other, but he couldn’t keep them apart as the whole scene descended into chaos.

The furious crowd surged forward too, punching and kicking both of them.

“You two monsters killed Julian! You disgusting cheaters don’t deserve to live!”

“You hurt my idol? I’ll beat you to death!”

The crowd only got wilder. When my son realized there was no stopping them, he slipped away in the confusion.

That left Vivienne alone onstage, taking blows from the crowd while still fighting Nolan.
