They Wanted My Mom to Take the Blame, but the Animals Told Me Everything Chapter 06

Orion cut her off.

“The one… the one I brought in. The cobra. It was right next to Leo when…”

“Then what about this one?” Orion nudged the dead king cobra with the toe of his shoe. “Explain how this one has fibers from Leo’s clothing caught in its fangs.”

Callie’s eyes instantly welled with tears. “Orion, I swear I don’t know! Someone must be setting me up! The nanny saw everything I did. I just want to save Leo!”

The nanny stood nearby, her face completely drained of color. Under Callie’s sharp glare, she nodded frantically. “Yes, yes… I saw it with my own eyes. Leo was definitely bitten by the snake Miss Hanish caught…”

Suddenly remembering something, Callie whirled around and pointed a trembling finger at me. “It’s her! She must have released that snake! If it wasn’t her, how could she possibly know there was another one?”

I let out a cold laugh. “Are you two running a comedy routine? If you saw everything with your own eyes, how do you explain the snake with fabric in its mouth? Did it magically appear out of thin air?”

Callie snarled. “Or maybe it was you. Maybe you had a snake ready and let one of those cats carry it over…”

I rolled my eyes. “Miss Hanish, do you honestly believe I have the superpower to command a cat to frame you?”

Callie choked on her words.

I pointed to the cat sitting calmly on the floor. “Look at it. It’s a stray
the boy feeds regularly. Mrs. Ashford’s maid recognized it
immediately.”

“It tracked down this exact emergency room out of dozens of
hospitals in the city and dumped the snake right at my feet. You think
I orchestrated that? What do you think I am, a psychic?”

Left speechless, Callie turned toward Mrs. Ashford in a desperate
frenzy. “Mrs. Ashford, you’ve seen how well I treat Leo! I cook for him,
play with him, and tuck him into bed. How could I ever hurt him?”

Sobbing uncontrollably, she clutched Mrs. Ashford’s shirt. “This vet
student is behind all of this. Maybe she uses some kind of witchcraft
to control animals. She and her mother planned this together to hurt
Leo and frame me…”

Looking at the girl she had known for years, a hint of hesitation
flickered in Mrs. Ashford’s faded eyes. “Orion… I’ve watched Callie
grow up since she was a little girl. She has always been a sweet,
kind-hearted girl…”

“Woof!”

The Pomeranian suddenly leaped up, baring its teeth at Callie.

Kind-hearted my ass! It’s all an act! She calls you a walking corpse
behind your back and planned to dump you in a nursing home the
second Leo died!

The cat stopped licking its paw and let out a sharp, guttural meow.

She’s worse than evil—she’s sick. She’s tortured dozens of strays in this neighborhood. She trampled my kitten to death with her high heels.

And she records it all on her phone. She watches the videos in bed every single night.

I looked at Callie.

No one would guess such darkness was hidden beneath that pretty face.

The Pomeranian kept barking.

Yes! I saw her screen once. A kitten was tied to a chair while she poured boiling water over it, and she was laughing!

Coco, get this girl to help! She can understand us—she’ll expose that wicked woman for sure!

The cat turned its gaze directly onto me. You can understand us? Can you help us?

I sighed inwardly, realizing I was fully dragged into this, but I spoke up anyway. “Miss Hanish, you claim you’re kind-hearted and love Leo like your own. Then explain the animal abuse videos saved on your phone.”
