They Wanted My Mom to Take the Blame, but the Animals Told Me Everything Chapter 01

They Wanted My Mom to Take the Blame, but the Animals Told Me Everything Chapter 01

I had been able to understand animals ever since I was a child.

When I was three, my grandmother’s dog barked frantically at me.

Don’t drink it! There’s rat poison in the broth!

I got scared and knocked the chicken soup over.

Half an hour later, a rat that licked the spilled broth lay dead by the wall, foaming at the mouth.

When I was seven, a neighbor’s songbird cursed out our nanny every single day.

Thief! She stole the money and hid it under the bed!

The police searched the house and found the neighbor’s missing thirty grand right where the bird said.

Today, I went to pick up my mother from her shift in the hospital, only to stumble upon a massive crisis: the son of a billionaire had been bitten by a venomous snake.

The billionaire’s fiancée, ignoring the bloody bites on her hands from grappling with the snake, brought the reptile over to my mother.

My mother immediately identified the snake in the bag as a cobra and prepared to administer the antivenom.

But then, their Pomeranian let out a shrill, piercing yelp.

The snake that bit Leo isn’t the one in this bag!

Callie switched them! She wants to marry into the family but doesn’t want a stepson. She’s intentionally misleading the doctors to kill Leo!

The snake that actually bit Leo was a king cobra!

My blood ran cold. “Mom, wait! Standard cobra antivenom won’t be enough. He needs antivenom that covers king cobra venom too!”

Everyone in the ER turned to look at me.

My mother looked confused. “Rina, a normal cobra bite only requires one specific anti-venom. We don’t need a polyvalent one.”

I took a step forward. “What if the snake that bit the child wasn’t this one, but a king cobra?”

The moment the words left my mouth, the woman claiming to be the billionaire’s fiancée went deathly pale.

That confirmed it. Everything the Pomeranian said was true. This woman had switched the snakes.

I looked at my mother. “Mom, this isn’t a standard cobra bite. If we treat it like one, the antivenom won’t be enough.”

My mother had been an ER physician for over twenty years. Her experience far exceeded mine.

Hearing my reasoning, her expression shifted. “But the child’s current symptoms do align with a standard cobra bite. And the family brought a standard cobra…”

She’s lying through her teeth!

The Pomeranian jumped up and down, its tail wagging frantically in panic.

Callie deliberately sent the nanny away and had someone release the king cobra through the garden’s fence!

After Leo was bitten, she let that snake go and let a pre-captured cobra bite her own hand!

If they give Leo the wrong antivenom, he’ll die! And his father will blame the doctor. Your mom will be ruined!

A chill ran down my spine.

This woman wasn’t just cruel; she was pure evil. She was trying to murder a child and frame my mother for it.

Before I could speak, the billionaire’s fiancée, Callie Hanish, who had already received her own treatment, snapped at me. “Who do you think you are? Do you have any idea how dangerous it is to spout nonsense in an emergency?”

Tears still streaked down her face, but her eyes were sharp as knives. “I’m warning you. That boy is the Ashford heir. If you delay his treatment and something happens to him, you won’t survive the fallout.”

I didn’t back down.

“The only one delaying treatment is you. You want the Ashford fortune, but you don’t want a stepson, so you switched the snakes to mislead the doctors. You thought you could wipe your hands clean and walk away looking like a hero.”

Whispers broke out in the room. Everyone stared at her.

Only the Pomeranian stared at me in absolute shock.

You can hear me?

Reading the look in my eyes, the dog grew incredibly excited.

Thank god! Leo can be saved! Finally, someone is exposing this monster!

Callie’s face drained of color, clearly terrified by how I knew her exact plan.

But within a second, she forced herself to calm down. “Do you have any proof to back up your slander? I can sue you for defamation!”

I ignored her and turned to the elderly woman standing nearby—Mrs. Ashford, the billionaire’s mother. “Mrs. Ashford, please trust me. Your grandson was truly bitten by a king cobra.”

“If he only receives one antivenom now, the neurotoxins will remain unchecked. He won’t survive the night.”

Mrs. Ashford’s face was etched with deep anxiety. She hesitated, looking at Callie. “Callie… are you absolutely certain this was the snake that bit Leo?”

The question was gentle, but Callie reacted as if Mrs. Ashford had slapped her. Tears filled her eyes as she spoke with wounded innocence. “Mrs. Ashford, you know how much I love Leo.”

“And I risked my own hands to catch that snake—despite being terrified—so the doctor wouldn’t misdiagnose. I got bitten too. So why would you take the word of some stranger and turn on me?”

“If you don’t believe me, ask the nanny. She was right there and helped me handle it.”
