They Tried To Punish My Daughter, Unaware We Were Vampires Chapter 10

I stopped and gave Ivy a puzzled look.

What’s so funny?”

Ivy entered a password into the basement control panel with practiced ease.

A hidden screen lit up on the wall. It showed surveillance footage from every corner of the estate,

including Silas’s and Rowan’s private rooms.

She turned toward me, and every trace of innocence and vulnerability had disappeared from her

face. In its place was a cold, calculating look.

“Mom, did you really think I was so weak that they could push me around?”

I froze.

Was this the same Ivy who would get upset for hours after accidentally stepping on an ant?

Ivy snapped her fingers, and the footage rewound to a scene from a month earlier.

Silas and Rowan appeared on the screen, plotting how to transfer my assets into their names.

The recording changed again. This time, Rowan stood in the kitchen, adding a small dose of slow–acting poison to Ivy’s nutrient solution.

Kayla stared as the screen showed her repeatedly visiting the Vesper estate and fawning over Silas

and Rowan.

Understanding dawned on her. Her face went white, and her voice shook uncontrollably.

“You knew who I was all along? That tip about Silas and Rowan… you planted it?”

“Yes,”

Ivy didn’t even look at her.

“I knew they were planning to betray us. They thought they were being careful, but I saw everything.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me?” I asked, frowning.

Ivy kicked the still–wailing Kayla aside.

“Because I was sick of them. Every day, Silas and Rowan pretended to care about me while secretly planning to kill me.”

“I wanted them dead, but I didn’t want to dirty my own hands. More importantly, you’ve always taught me that House Vesper doesn’t kill innocent people.”

gave me a sly smile.

“If they hadn’t crossed the line themselves, how could we have gotten rid of them without breaking the family code?”

I pointed at Kayla.

“And her?”

“Her?” Ivy gave a contemptuous snort.

“I paid to put her in our path. I’d looked into her background and knew she was a greedy con artist

Then I had someone tip her off about two rich idiots with more money than sense.”

“She took the bait exactly as I expected.”

“Kayla was the test. I wanted to see whether those two fools would choose her over us.”

I was stunned.

Ivy had orchestrated everything.

Ivy had pretended to be helpless on the roof, letting Silas and Rowan torment her until they exposed

their true nature.

She had pushed them into crossing the one line she knew I could never forgive. Once they did, I could destroy them without violating the Vesper Code.

I studied Ivy. She was still only a teenager, yet her patience and cunning unsettled even me. Instead of anger, I felt a surge of pride unlike anything I had known before.

I stroked her hair and smiled.

“Well played.”

This was the true heir to House Vesper. She had all the ruthlessness, resolve, and intelligence our

bloodline demanded.

We left the basement, and the heavy soundproof door slowly closed behind us, shutting out the

screams and sounds of chewing.

Sunlight streamed through the floor–to–ceiling windows.

Ivy stretched and stepped into its warmth. Her body had fully adapted to the sunlight, and she

showed no sign of discomfort.

She turned toward me with a bright smile.

“What’s for dinner, Mom?”

“Your favorite. Fresh ‘tomato juice.“”

As for the three wretches in the basement, they could spend eternity in the dark, paying for their

stupidity.
