They Swapped Brides At The Wedding, I Swapped Grooms Chapter 07

Rowan stared at the marriage certificate and didn’t believe it for a second.

He let out a scoff.

“Lillian, how many times are you going to pull this stunt? You really expect me to believe you married Bryce

overnight?”

He gave the paperwork another dismissive glance. “You went pretty far to make this look convincing, I’ll give

you that.”

Lorinda’s shrill voice chimed in beside him.

“Lillian, why do you even bother? Going through all this trouble just to put on a show and fool Rowan.”

Bryce laced his fingers through mine and held our joined hands up in front of them, his tone smug.

“You two must be blind. Look at the rings on our fingers.”

Last night, after we got home, Bryce had confessed that he’d liked me for years.

He’d been preparing this ring for three years, and every year he’d find some excuse to measure my finger

size.

And the five-carat ring I’d casually mentioned to Rowan once? Bryce had quietly remembered that wish too.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t moved.

Rowan’s face darkened. Lorinda cut him off when he was about to speak.

“Bryce, honestly. You’re Rowan’s best friend. How could you play along with Lillian’s nonsense? There’s no need to buy cheap plastic rings just to act out this drama.”

Rowan’s expression turned even more grim.

“You two are something else. My fiancée and my best friend are ganging up to lie to me.”

Bryce had had enough and was about to go after Rowan.

I squeezed his hand, then gave Lorinda a faint smile.

“I’m not lying to you. But compared to mine, Lorinda’s lies are a whole different league.”

Rowan wanted to press further, but Lorinda cut in loudly, her voice cracking.

“Don’t you dare slander me! I know you’re jealous that Rowan cares about me, but that’s no excuse!”

Rowan’s instinct kicked in, and he defended her.

“Lillian, you’ve disappointed me. I’m not getting the license with you today. Go home and think about what

you’ve done.”

I said flatly, “Who’d want that rotten cabbage anyway?”

“You!”

Rowan glared at me, fuming, then grabbed Lorinda and walked off.

Bryce wrapped his arms around me, pouting.

“Lillian, why didn’t you let me speak just now? Are you still into that guy who’s nice to everyone? You

promised me last night you’d give me a chance to pursue you.”

Ever since he’d confessed everything, I realized his aloof act had all been a front, and he’d turned into the

clingiest person alive.

I soothed him.

“I don’t like him anymore.”

Bryce wouldn’t let it go until I swore it three times.

“I promise. I won’t even look at him again.”

He pulled out his phone, pressed it against my face, and snapped a selfie.

“Lillian, I want to post this.”

I gave his shoulder a playful smack.

“You already took it, and you’re still asking me?”

Seeing I’d agreed, he excitedly uploaded it with the caption: [Finally married the person I secretly loved for three years.]

That night, he drank a lot.

He held me and cried.

“I should’ve taken you away sooner. If it weren’t for him, we’d have a kid by now.”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

“It’s not too late now.”
