That was the academy courtyard garden.

It had also been the place Adrian and I loved most back then.

The year we graduated, we had childishly buried a time capsule there.

We promised we would open it together 10 years later.

But now, those 10 years had long since passed.

As expected, Adrian was there.

His back was slightly bent, and looking at it made my chest ache.

I took a deep breath and was just about to walk over.

But another figure moved faster than me and stopped in front of Adrian.

It was our high school classmate, Stella Lawson.

Back then, she had chased Adrian for 3 whole years, and almost everyone knew it.

Her curly hair fell loosely over her shoulders as she moved closer to Adrian and asked lazily, “So, you still aren’t going to divorce Selena?”

Adrian said nothing.

Stella let out a soft laugh and touched Adrian’s shoulder suggestively.

Adrian immediately avoided her hand.

Stella’s expression stiffened for a second, but she quickly returned to that flirtatious look.

“Seriously, aren’t I better than Selena now?”

“Why don’t you consider me?”

I clenched my fists and was about to rush out.

The next second, Adrian’s cold voice rang out.

“You’re comparing yourself to Selena?”

“Stella, that’s not a comparison you want to make.”

Stella’s face turned blue with anger, and she raised a shaking finger at Adrian.

“Fine.”

“Adrian Blackwell, you’re ruthless.”

“I’d love to see how long you can keep holding on to that unstable woman.”

Then she left in her heels.

I hid behind the tree, staring blankly at Adrian’s back.

Before seeing those spectator feed comments, I had never imagined Adrian’s feelings for me could run so deep.

Adrian and I grew up together.

He was premature.

Although we were the same age, he had always been smaller than me when we were little.

So I always coaxed him into calling me Boss.

That nickname lasted 17 years.

Until the day we turned 18, when he called me Boss for the last time beside my ear.

The boy’s young face was terribly red as he nervously asked, “Boss, will you be my girlfriend?”

Maybe the night had been too gentle.

Or maybe his eyes had been too serious.

I nodded.

In that moment, I even forgot I was supposed to go to London for school later.

Before I left for London, I hesitated for a long time, but I still broke up with Adrian.

My reason was that I didn’t want a long-distance relationship.

“Break up?”

We were breaking up.

When I crouched in the rain and cried in panic, he suddenly appeared again.

Then he looked at me calmly and said, “Selena Hart, let’s break up.”

On the flight to London, I cried so hard I couldn’t open my eyes.

I thought Adrian must hate me to death.

But I never expected that he didn’t hate me.

He waited for me through all those long years.

“Selena, come out.”

Adrian’s voice was very low, almost lifeless.

Just like now.

He called my name, but my first instinct was to run.

I always felt like he was about to send me to a private psychiatric institute.
