They Stole My Seven Years Chapter 06

They Stole My Seven Years Chapter 06

When I came back to myself, Adrian was already standing in front of me.

He looked down at me, those black eyes utterly still.

I hiccuped in fright and blurted out, “I don’t want to go to a private psychiatric institute!”

Adrian lifted a brow and calmly turned his gaze aside.

“How did you know I was going to send you there?”

That was what he said.

But I didn’t miss the subtle curve at the corner of his mouth.

That was Adrian’s signature expression when he used to tease me.

I took a breath and narrowed my eyes at him.

But that faint smile seemed like my imagination.

His face returned to indifference, so clean of emotion that nothing showed at all.

A cold hand suddenly closed around my wrist.

I froze, my gaze slowly dropping from Adrian’s face.

Adrian gripped my wrist tightly, with a force I couldn’t break free from.

“Let’s go.”

“I’m taking you to a private psychiatric institute.”

On the way there, I sat in the back seat like a turkey about to be served on a Thanksgiving table.

One moment, I picked at the seat. The next, I pressed myself to the window and looked outside.

In the end, I curled into the corner and whispered, “Adrian, I won’t do the mission anymore.”

“Can you just let me go?”

Adrian had been looking down at some documents.

His fingers paused.

After a long moment, he turned his head and looked at me.

That look was calm, without a single ripple, and it made my heart go hollow.

I called his name softly.

“Adrian…”

He gave a soft snort.

“Trying to run?”

“Not happening.”

The breath caught in my throat, stuck there until it hurt.

I took a deep breath and snorted even louder than he had.

Then I turned away toward the window and stopped looking at him.

Just then, the car stopped at a red light.

I tentatively pressed the door switch.

Under my stunned gaze, the door opened.

I froze for only 1 second before pushing it open and rushing out.

“Selena!”

Adrian’s voice sounded behind me, shocked and furious.

I didn’t look back.

I ran faster.

The spectator feed had told me about the methods Adrian used to torment those Hosts.

Reading them had chilled my back.

I sprinted along the road.

In the roar of traffic, a harsh shout suddenly rang out.

“Selena! Watch out!”

Instinctively, I listened to Adrian and stopped.

A delivery bike shot past my side.

I stood there, still shaken.

The next second,

a burning-hot body hugged me from behind.

Even Adrian’s breathing was trembling.

He held me tightly, so hard I could barely breathe.

Warm tears fell onto my neck.

I swallowed with difficulty and could only pat the hands locked around my waist.

“I’m okay.”

“Don’t be scared.”

Adrian, who was holding me, did not react.

The spectator feed, however, exploded again.

“!!!”

“I was gone for 1 second. How did the plot jump cut to this?”

“Wasn’t he choking her before? How are they hugging now?”

“No way. Is my soap opera finally hitting endgame?”

My heart felt like a cat had scratched it lightly.

A crying Adrian.

I wanted to see that too.

So I moved a little in Adrian’s arms.

“Adrian, um, let go of me first. I…”

“Let you go so you can run again?”

His hoarse voice carried a trace of coldness again.

Angry and anxious, I simply stomped hard on Adrian’s foot.

“Who told you to send me to a private psychiatric institute?”

“Let go of me first.”

“I promise I won’t run.”

“Adrian, I’m counting to 3.”

“1, 2…”

The arms around me stiffened.

Then they slowly released me.

I finally turned around.

Adrian’s eyes were red at the corners, and his tear-damp lashes trembled lightly.

The spectator feed had not lied.

A crying Adrian really was devastatingly beautiful.

He was still glaring at me with those wet eyes, trying to scare me.

“I’m telling you, you…”

I clicked my tongue, hooked my arms around his neck, and kissed him hard.

Adrian blinked in confusion.

Like the screaming spectator feed, he seemed completely unable to follow the plot.

But the next second,

he came back to himself and pressed a hand to the back of my head, pulling me into his lips.

As our mouths tangled, I suddenly grabbed his hair hard and forced his head back.

He lowered his eyes to me in a daze, his voice thick with a nasal sound as he gave a soft, “Hm?”

I wiped my mouth and gave a cold laugh.

“You recognized me a long time ago, didn’t you?”
