They Forged My DNA Test–Fine, I’m No Longer Your Daughter Chapter 07

While they were scrambling to confirm the truth about my birth, I was already in Boston, more

than a thousand miles away.

Once the death certificate was filed, I paid an identity broker to secure a new legal identity.

I named myself Aurora Vale.

Aurora meant dawn, a new beginning.

I rented a student apartment near campus and quietly looked forward to the start of classes.

On registration day, I finally knew what it felt like to breathe freely.

Then I stepped off campus and spotted a familiar figure.

Caelan Ashford.

I turned away and pretended not to see him.

Caelan sprinted after me.

“Elowen! Wait! Don’t run!”

He caught up in a few long strides and blocked my path.

His eyes were red as he searched my face, as if he needed proof that I was real.

I looked back at him calmly.

“I’m sorry, sir. You’ve mistaken me for someone else.”

Elowen Valen had died the day she left Moonvale Pack.

I was Aurora Vale now.

I had buried everything connected to Elowen Valen. I would never waste another second on

that past or those people.

I tried to step around him, but he grabbed my arm.

His voice came out tight, almost desperate.

“No. I could never mistake-nry own mate. You’re Elowen. I know you are.

“I’ve known you’ve been here for months. Stellan wouldn’t let me come. He said we’d only destroy the new life you’d worked so hard to build, but I couldn’t stay away any longer.”

The words tumbled out of him, rushed and breathless.

That was how I learned they all knew the truth.

His mating ceremony with Seraphine had been called off.

He said everyone had slowly begun to notice something was wrong with Seraphine after I left.

It started on an ordinary afternoon.

Caelan came home early from an assignment.

As he passed Seraphine’s room, he heard familiar voices inside.

Seraphine was talking to the doctor who had once treated her.

“I know you’re after the Valen and Ashford fortunes, but stop being so impatient.

“Stellan and Caelan do anything I ask now. You’ll get your money eventually. Relax.

“I only faked the coma because I didn’t want them shipping me off to boarding school to learn

all those tedious rules.

“But while I was gone, Elowen lived the life that should’ve been mine and took everything that belonged to me.

“Nothing made me happier than watching the girl with my face suffer and be humiliated.”

The confession gutted Caelan.
