They Forged My DNA Test–Fine, I’m No Longer Your Daughter Chapter 01

The day I learned I wasn’t the Valen family’s real daughter, I went from Moonvale Pack’s spoiled princess to a quiet, obedient ghost in the Alpha house.

When Seraphine demanded my favorite dress, I gave it to her.

When she ruined my birthday party, I stayed silent.

Even when she blushed and confessed she wanted my fated mate, I didn’t fight back.

I just quietly packed my acceptance letter to Royal Crescent Academy, waiting for the day I’d vanish forever.

Then Caelan Ashford cornered me at the end of the hallway.

The powerful Alpha heir’s eyes were red, and his voice shook with barely restrained emotion.

“What is wrong with you? Is lineage really that important?!”

“Are you ditching even me?!”

I stared at him in utter confusion.

Because the man who forged that DNA report proving I wasn’t a Valen… was him.

I had no intention of exposing him.

Werewolves could feel the pull of a mate bond in their very souls.

Yet the wolf inside me, the one that should have leaped at his presence, had gone completely STILL.

I squeezed past him, my shoulder brushing his.

“Caelan, you should be with Seraphine.

“I’m going to be late for the graduation ceremony. Please move.”

Seraphine had just woken after years in a coma and rarely let him out of her sight.

In this family, I would never come first.

Caelan went rigid, but he refused to let me go.

“Elowen Valen, you said you wanted me by your side forever.”

I kept walking.

“People change, Mr. Ashford. I don’t need you anymore.”

Outside the Alpha house, Father’s black town car waited in the drive.

He and Mother stood beside it in formal clothes.

Father looked at me, his voice unusually gentle.

“You may not be our biological daughter, but we raised you for eighteen years. A DNA report can’t erase that.”

Mother nodded.

“We’re both coming to your graduation ceremony today.

“The Valen family would never miss one of your milestones.”

She stopped mid-sentence.

Her gaze moved past me to the front door.

Seraphine stood there sobbing, her shoulders shaking. Then she turned and ran back inside.

Mother and Father both went grim.

Without a thought for their formal clothes, they rushed after her.

Her broken sobs drifted through the open door.

“Are you leaving me home alone again?

“The hospital room was so cold and dark. I never want to be all alone again…”

Two minutes later, Mother and Father came back out, each holding one of Seraphine’s hands.

“Seraphine is still fragile. She lost years of her life while she was unconscious.

“We’ll take her with us today. It’ll help make up for some of what she missed.”

I nodded without a word.

I knew better than anyone that as long as Seraphine was there, I would only ever be an afterthought.

I had tried to fight for my place once.

But every time, I heard the same excuses.

“She needs you.”

“You’re healthy. You should be more understanding.”

“If it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t have this family at all.”

So I had learned to stay in my place.

Whatever she wanted, I gave her.

At the graduation ceremony, my schoolmates crowded around to take pictures with me.

Then Seraphine appeared beside me with her pretty, innocent face, and every eye turned to her.

“She’s gorgeous, Elowen! Is she your friend? Can I get a picture with her?”

I opened my mouth, but no words came.

Seraphine was already beaming.

“Of course.

“But I’m not her friend. I’m the Alpha and Luna’s only biological daughter.”

For a beat, everyone went silent.

Then barely concealed excitement spread across their faces, the kind reserved for fresh gossip.

They immediately crowded around Seraphine and pulled her a few steps away.

Soon, they were looking at me differently.

As easily as she’d taken everything else, she took my friends too.

I stood there alone.

Everything around me went strangely distant.

Mother approached, then stopped three paces away.

It was Seraphine’s designated ‘safe distance.’ She claimed standing any closer made her anxious.

“Elowen, after the ceremony, Moonvale Pack will issue an official statement.”

Mother spoke softly, as though she were offering me a tremendous gift.

“The Valens will formally adopt you.

“You’ll no longer simply be the girl we raised. You’ll legally be our adopted daughter.”

Any other girl might have been overwhelmed with gratitude.

I only shook my head and said softly, “No, thank you.

“I’m grateful enough that anyone came to my graduation ceremony at all.”

I already had an offer from Royal Crescent Academy.

Before long, I would be gone for good.

Starting today, I would sever every tie between us.
