They Called Me the Pack’s Curse Chapter 08

They Called Me the Pack’s Curse Chapter 08

At Enforcer Headquarters, where packs answered for their crimes, Alpha Silas tried to play the victim.

“Enforcers, you don’t understand,” he said, putting on a pained expression. “This girl was raised by humans. She’s traumatized. Unstable. She’s delusional. Everything she said is fabricated.”

He tapped his temple, his voice heavy with fake sorrow. “She keeps talking about the Silver Moon Oracle and fake deaths. She’s not in her right mind.”

Luna Clara stood beside him, crying on cue, adding to the performance. A few enforcers even looked sympathetic.

In the corner, Pearl glared at me, her eyes filled with hatred. Her lips moved silently.

[You’ll regret this. I’ll make you pay.]

I let out a quiet scoff.

I had come prepared.

I reached up and unfastened the second button on my coat.

A hidden micro-camera.

“I have video evidence,” I said, holding it up. “You can’t deny it.”

Their faces went white.

Pearl screamed and lunged at me, but the enforcers restrained her immediately.

That reaction alone was enough.

Alpha Silas, Luna Clara, and Pearl were sentenced to fifteen days in custody for conspiracy, fraud, and attempted assault.

The moment I stepped out of Enforcer Headquarters, Damon was there.

Waiting.

Arms open.

I ran into him and broke.

All the tears, all the pain, all the lies I had endured came pouring out at once.

We had met at the Pack Academy.

He had been the Alpha heir of Black Thorn Pack. Powerful. Commanding. Yet endlessly patient and gentle with me.

He had pursued me for months, never pressuring me, never making me feel out of place.

He loved me for who I was.

Not my title.

Not any alliance.

When he heard what had happened, his anger was cold and absolute.

The next day, Black Thorn Pack launched a full-scale assault on Silver Moon Pack.

We took their territory.

Froze their assets.

Drove out every remaining pack member.

Fifteen days later, when Alpha Silas, Luna Clara, and Pearl walked out of custody, they found nothing left.

No territory.

No wealth.

No power.

Nothing.

I stood on the balcony of Damon’s estate, watching as debt collectors dragged them away. Their faces were twisted with despair and fury.

I smiled.

For the first time in a long time, I felt free.

Damon stepped up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and pressing a soft kiss to my forehead.

A glass of champagne gleamed in his hand under the sunlight.

“Happy now, my love?” he murmured.

I turned, smiling, and rose onto my toes to kiss him. “Thank you, Damon. For staying with me. For never giving up on me.”

He smiled, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “Lila, I’ll always be by your side. You’re my mate. My Luna. I’ll always protect you.”

A year later, I graduated from Pack Academy at the top of my class.

On the night of the full moon, in front of all of Black Thorn Pack, Damon proposed.

He vowed to love me, respect me, stand beside me for the rest of his life.

Our mating ceremony was grand. Every powerful faction in the region was there.

That day was filled with hope. With promise. A future without lies or pain.

And then, just as we were exchanging vows, the doors of the hall slammed open.

Alpha Silas.

Luna Clara.

Pearl.

Filthy. Ragged. Desperate.

They had lost everything. Reduced to beggars.

“Lila!” Luna Clara screamed, rushing toward me with trembling hands. “My daughter! I’m sorry! I was wrong! I was greedy, I was foolish!”

She collapsed to her knees, tears streaming down her face. “You’re my only daughter. My precious girl. Please forgive me. We’ve suffered enough.”

Alpha Silas stood beside her, head lowered, voice shaking. “Lila… we’re sorry. We lost everything. We’re starving. Homeless. Please… show mercy.”

Pearl dropped to her knees too, fear and desperation written all over her face. “Lila, I was good to you! I gave you clothes, food, protected you! Please, don’t let us die. Help us.”

I looked at them, my expression cold.

“And what does any of that have to do with me?” I said flatly. “That DNA test was fake. We’re not related. Stop pretending we’re family.”

Their faces went deathly pale.

At that moment, Black Thorn warriors rushed in and dragged the three of them out without hesitation.

I turned away.

I didn’t look back.

From this moment on, my life would be nothing but peace and happiness.
