They Called Me the Pack’s Curse Chapter 05

They Called Me the Pack’s Curse Chapter 05

The rogues froze, their eyes widening in shock.

The leader snapped out of it first. A harsh, grating laugh tore from his throat. “Are you insane? Using your own sister to threaten us? That’s perfect. I can sell both of you and double my profit.”

Pearl sagged weakly against me, her face pale, her eyes filled with disbelief. “Lila… what are you doing? You’re scaring me…”

That innocent act of hers made something cold curl in my chest. A faint, mocking smile tugged at my lips. “Pearl, what am I doing? You already know exactly what I’m doing.”

Her pupils shrank.

For a split second, fear flashed across her face. Then it vanished just as quickly.

Her expression shifted. Sadness replaced it, fragile and trembling, her eyes glossing over with tears. “Lila… I don’t understand. If killing me will save you, then do it. I don’t mind. The pack enforcers will blame everything on these rogues. They’ll pay for what they’ve done. You’ll be safe…”

I stared at her.

Then I laughed.

It was hollow. Bitter. Broken.

Tears slid down my cheeks as my voice shook. “Pearl… I came home and treated you like my real sister. I gave you everything. I protected you… So why are you doing this to me?”

She looked at me, wide-eyed and innocent. “Lila, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I would never hurt you.”

“Enough.”

I cut her off and tightened my grip on her hand.

“You’re still acting. Even now, when everything is falling apart, you’re still pretending.” My voice dropped, cold and final. “That’s fine. You’ll be dead soon. Maybe then you’ll finally understand.”

Pearl’s breathing turned ragged.

Her face flushed, then darkened, shifting from pale to red to a disturbing shade of purple.

She struggled, trying to break free, but I didn’t let go. My grip didn’t loosen. My resolve didn’t waver.

“You bitch! Are you actually going to kill her?!” the rogue leader roared, fury exploding in his voice. “Grab her! Before she kills that girl!”

The other rogues lunged forward, claws flashing in the dark.

I raised my voice, sharp and cutting through the chaos. “Drop the act! I know the truth! You don’t scare me anymore! I have nothing left to lose. Take one more step, and I’ll kill her. Then you’re next.”

They hesitated.

Their steps faltered.

I locked eyes with the leader, my voice turning cold and steady.

“You’re not a rogue. You’re Mark. One of my father’s most trusted warriors. One of Silver Moon Pack’s elite.”

“And my pack didn’t go bankrupt. None of this is real. You’re all actors. Paid to play your parts.”

Mark’s face went pale.

His gaze flickered, avoiding mine.

He opened his mouth, trying to deny it, but his voice came out shaky. “You’re lying! I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

I ignored him.

Instead, I turned to Pearl, my smile twisting into something unhinged.

“My dear sister…” My voice dipped into something almost manic. “Mom and Dad aren’t dead, are they? You went through all this trouble, staged this entire performance… why?”

My voice sharpened.

“If you hate me that much, if you never wanted me back, then why did you come find me? Why bring me home?”

That question had haunted me ever since I was reborn.

I hadn’t found them.

They had found me.

That day, dozens of black SUVs lined up outside the restaurant in the human world. Alpha Silas and Luna Clara walked straight in, ignoring my dirty clothes, my tangled hair.

They pulled me into their arms.

Called me their daughter.

Their lost pup.

I had believed them.

I had believed their love was real.

I had believed I finally had a home.

But it had all been a lie.

A cruel, twisted game.
