They Called Me a Simp. The School Heartthrob Is My Brother Chapter 06

The auditorium was so quiet you could hear the static from the speakers.

Eden’s smile was still frozen on her face.

It hung there like a bad screenshot.

Evan was the first to speak, “No. That’s not possible.”

“You don’t even share the same last name.”

Nate glanced at him, “I got Dad’s name. She got Mom’s. That illegal?”

Evan opened his mouth.

Nothing came out.

People were already pulling out their phones, scrolling through old forum posts.

“No wonder Zoe could get into Nate’s house.”

“No wonder she had the keys and the card.”

“So that underwear was actually her brother’s?”

“Oh my god. What did we even watch?”

I rubbed my swollen face and walked over to stand next to Nate,

“That hurt. Pay up.”

Nate reached out and patted my head—a rare gesture,

“I’ll take you to your favorite restaurant later.”

Eden finally snapped out of it.

She clutched the pledge and forced a smile.

“Nate, don’t make up lies just to protect her.”

“I know you’re soft-hearted. But she’s been stalking you for a long time.”

“Even if you call her your sister, it doesn’t fix the problem.”

Even now, she was still trying to keep the story going.

That kind of nerve deserves a screenwriting credit.

Nate pulled out his phone.

He opened his gallery and found a family photo.

Four people. Same parents. Same birthday cake. Same mess.

“Actually siblings.”

“Eden went crazy. She was calling his sister a simp…”

“Nate must be furious. Her confession is definitely over.”

Eden’s face went pale.

She rushed to turn off the screen and tried to hide the pledge.

Nate grabbed it first. He read it from top to bottom.

“Never see me again. Never enter my house. Never touch my things.”

He looked at me, “You signed this?”

“Yes.”

“Zoe, what’s wrong with you?”

I shot back,

“You told me to pretend we don’t know each other at school.”

“A free ‘cut ties’ offer showed up. Of course I took it.”

Nate took a deep breath.

He let it go, “Where are the other things?”

“What things?”

“The card, keys, and clothes she said you stole.”

I told him the truth, “Debit card and jersey are with her.”

“Keys are at the bottom of the artificial pond.”

“Mrs. Smith took my phone. And Eden locked me in the prop room for over an hour.”

“If the cleaning lady hadn’t passed by, you’d be identifying me at the morgue right now.”

The anger in Nate’s face vanished.

When he stopped being angry, he was even scarier.

Eden jumped in, “I just wanted her to calm down.”

“And Evan was outside the whole time. Nothing would have happened.”

I raised my hand, “Correction.”

“When I said I couldn’t breathe, he told me to stop pretending.”

Evan’s face went white, “You’re lying.”

“The prop room has cameras.”

Nate turned to the backstage supervisor, “Pull the footage.”

The supervisor looked uneasy, “It’s homecoming.”

“Can we deal with this after the event?”

Eden nodded quickly,

“Yes. We can’t let Zoe ruin the whole school’s night just because she’s upset.”

She turned to Nate with red-rimmed eyes,

“Nate, even if she’s your sister, she can’t ruin my confession.”

“I’ve been preparing for three months.”

I laughed, “You locked me up for an hour, and I’m supposed to applaud your confession?”

Eden bit her lip, “I didn’t know you were allergic to dust.”

“And you never told me you were Nate’s sister.”

“If you had, none of this would have happened.”

If I wasn’t Nate’s sister—

would it have been okay for me to die in that storage room?
