The Wolf Princess’s Seven Promised Mates Chapter 13

The Wolf Princess’s Seven Promised Mates Chapter 13

Damian’s eyes trembled faintly, yet he held fast to his lie, his jaw tight with suppressed pain.

“I am not covering for anyone. I am the sole culprit behind this incident.”

“If that’s true, why didn’t you admit it from the start?” I pressed him sharply, my tone cold and accusatory. “You put on a righteous front, vowing to track down the signal and expose the

criminal.”

“Now that the evidence is right in front of us, you suddenly confess. Your behavior is far too

suspicious.”

Damian hung his head, his beautiful face etched with overwhelming restraint and helplessness.

He gritted his teeth, fully aware his excuse was full of flaws, yet he insisted on pushing through

with the lie to shield Selina.

“I was pretending earlier.”

“I offered to trace the signal to cover up the truth, to stop everyone from discovering I was the one who leaked your private materials.”

“But I never expected you to distrust me so deeply that you brought in two more hackers to work alongside me.”

“I could not keep up the pretense any longer. Rather than being exposed publicly by them, I chose to confess on my own, at the very least preserving a shred of dignity.”

His explanation fell over the silent ballroom, and the watching nobles broke out in quiet, confused

murmurs.

“Was this really all Damian’s doing? Something feels incredibly off.”

“He’s acting strange, like he’s deliberately shielding someone else.”

“Who could possibly be important enough for Damian to take the fall for such a humiliating

crime?”

Listening to the whispers swirling around us, I let out a cold, mocking laugh.

There was only one person in this world who could make Damian abandon all principles, disregard all consequences, and sacrifice everything to protect her without hesitation.

“Damian, do you think taking all the blame upon yourself will make me let her go?” I stared straight at him, my eyes sharp with unshakable resolve.

“She humiliated me in front of the entire kingdom. Do you honestly believe I will let her walk out of

this palace unscathed?!”

Raw agony flashed across Damian’s dark eyes, his composure finally crumbling.

“Aurora, I beg you. Let this end here.” His voice was low and pleading, utterly desperate. “I will do anything you ask, anything at all, if you drop this investigation.”

“You once loved me. I will marry you at once. We can hold the mating ceremony immediately, just

say the word.”

Before he could finish his desperate plea, I burst into loud, sarcastic laughter, every inch of my

heart numb and disgusted.

“Stop. I’m laughing so hard my stomach hurts.”

“Damian, where do you get the confidence to think I would still marry you after everything you and she have done?”

Damian’s black eyes trembled violently, shock and disbelief washing over his features.

“Aurora…”

I cut him off ruthlessly, giving him no chance to speak, my voice cold and final.

“I stopped loving you a long time ago. You and Selina both disgust me to my core.”

Damian’s POV

I lifted my head and met Aurora’s gaze head-on.

The loathing in her eyes was so thick, so unmasked, that it sliced straight through my chest, leaving me in unbearable, crippling agony.

For the first time in my life, I understood what it meant to have your heart shattered into a million pieces.

My mind went completely blank, crashing into total chaos.

I could not comprehend it at all.

Didn’t she love me?

She had loved me relentlessly for years. No matter how coldly I pushed her away, no matter how indifferent I was to her feelings, she always smiled brightly and clung to my side, refusing to leave.

As a royal princess, she had cast aside all her pride and dignity to chase after me wholeheartedly

The entire kingdom had mocked her, calling her a simp for me, yet she had never cared. She had always lifted her chin proudly and told everyone without hesitation.

“I love Damian. He is extraordinary, and loving him is only natural.”

She used to look at me with stars shining in her eyes, warm, bright, and full of pure adoration.

So how could this happen?

When did those sparkling, loving eyes turn so cold, so empty, so full of nothing but disgust for me?

What had changed? When did everything fall apart?

I stared fixedly at her face, every nerve in my body screaming in denial, and spoke each word hoarsely, like a broken man begging for a single shred of truth.

“You don’t love me anymore?”

“I refuse to believe it.”

She had loved me for so many years, devoted every part of herself to me.

How could she simply stop loving me, just like that?
